Scottish Away Football Supporters

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

I'm doing my Masters dissertation on supporters of Scottish football league teams, particularly people who go to away matches. I've been hoping to get a pretty representative view so I've begun collecting in League One and League Two and I'm now looking for Championship views.

If anyone here would be kind enough to fill out the survey and share with their fellow supporters on social media then that would be greatly appreciated!

I have also set up a Facebook Page "Scottish Away Supporters" and a Twitter account "@ScotAwaySupport"

Shouldn't one of the early questions read 'do you have an financial dependant?' Not dependents?

Pedantic but submitted anyway.

Elgin for me. The best voted away day will be something popular but pretty shite like Tynecastle. Not many people, in relative terms, will have been to good wee grounds like Annan and Elgin.

Filled this out earlier. After Alloa's away game at Pittodrie last season, that brought up every league ground in Scotland for me. Elgin and Annan are okay but I'd say Arbroath, Forfar and Peterhead are all better. I went for Forfar anyway.

Forfar and Peterhead being the two further grounds away from train stations are massive negatives for them. Not all fans have the luxury of stepping onto a supprters bus. Neither of them should be voted the best for that reason.

I can't think why you would have found Tynie shite. :)

As a full stadium Tynecastle is fantastic - probably the best in Scotland. When you support a team with 300 home fans things like that is pretty insignificant. It's about the overall match day experience and Gorgie isn't the best.

Does anyone who completes a dissertation on scottish football get a job ?

Seems to be a few every year on here

I know someone who works in football off the back of a dissertation about it. Can't imagine it's a huge employment sector though.

Also knew a bird at uni who was the biggest dullard I've ever met, who got - and subsequently lost - a job with Rangers *Greggy face*.
