Queen's Park v East Fife

Recommended Posts

East Fife make the trip to Hampden on the back of three wins.

It's been a congested fixture list to say the least, but Gary Naysmith has given the players today(thursday) off after the midweek camel trek to Elgin.

Fash is in great form at the moment, and Ross Brown looks fantastic being moved back to midfield.

We've turned a corner in the new year, still unbeaten. The addition of Julen has been a great bit of business, him and Paige look a good pairing and Steven Campbell has done a good job sitting in front of them.

Sean Dickson has also hit the ground running, goal threat and another option on the left where we've been a bit lightweight with Alan Cook spending most of the season injured.

Fraser Mullen has had a good new year, took a knock against Annan, I've not heard if he's recovered or not. Allan Walker can step in though so we should have cover.

Going to plenty Fifers checking twitter, aftn and p and b over the next day or two to see if Derek Riordan has accepted the deal offered.

Massive game, we've moved into the playoff places now and with 10 games to go we'll be looking to stay there.

As I said yesterday, this is a very important game for us, of the three teams above us, Queens Park are the most catchable at the moment, they may be 10 points ahead of us, but we're right bang on form, we play them on Saturday and we have a game in hand over them!!!

The Top Three are going to drop points between now and the end of the Season, last nights result showed that, we have to win on Saturday if we want to be in a position to take adavantage of any slip-ups by those Teams in the run-in!!!

I'm not saying that we're going to challenge for the League or finish the season unbeaten but we ARE going to finishy it strongly, we are where we deserve to be, mainly because of an incredibly pish first half of the season but we do appear to have turned that around and are definitely the form team in the Division at the moment!!!

Queens Park, in my opinion have been steady all season, they don't appear to have blipped at any point or broken any glass receptacles (like current Albion Rovers) or really stood out at any point (like early season Arbroath). They have doggedly plugged along and have been involved at the top end since the start, so they like us, deserve to be where they are, the only thing I can see to our advantage is that the 3-0 game apart, which was perhaps the worst performance I can remember seeing from any East Fife side in a long, long time, the other two games have been very close draws with nothing really in it between the sides and those games bookended our run of pish form!!!

The hope that I'm clinging to is, that it is a very, very different East Fife that will be turning out at Hampden tomorrow, an East Fife with better players (Etxabeguren Leanizbarrutia, Dickson and hopefully Riordan), players hitting form at the right time (Austin, Brown and Mullen), a cohesive formation with players playing in their correct position (Brown Campbell and Naysmith) and a team playing full of confidence (unbeaten in 2015), whereas we have to hope it is the Queens Park of the 2-2 & 0-0 draws that turn up!!!

That and of course, hope that Riordan signs the deal put in front of him at training tonight!!!

ETA: a picture in the forlorn hope that Riordan sees it and remembers the good times of the last fortnight and the possible good times yet to come and signs whatever is put in front of him!!!!

Point 1 - you do realise you've completely jinxed your team with a statement like that?

Point 2 - could we no just call him ET? Or Longpants?

Picture - is that Matt Damon joined you too?

Huge game. Rovers and Heid's Gone FC are both away from home this weekend. Results go our way and and we could be back at the summit, conversely if we lose we're at a gap opening up. What a time it would be to start a winning run.

How did it all come about anyway? Doesn't seem that long since he was at Hibs. No offence but it's wee bit of a tumble. I suspect he signed just so he could play at Hampden

Some of your lads were giving the board pelters not so long ago but between Expealidocious at the back and Tintin up front that's a fair investment. Fair play to them.

KK offered him unlimited access to his porn stash.

That's enough to convince anyone to sign up!

Let's not get too carried away. Delighted to be in a play off position as a few weeks ago we were relegation candidates. Fair play to management and board getting Riordan signed up, him and Austin will be a great partnership at this level.

I'd imagine both teams will fancy their chances at Hampden. Queens Park have done well this season and deserve to be where they are. We started the season terribly and Naysmith must have been close to either quitting or getting the sack only a few weeks ago. Chuffed to bits he has turned it around and brought in some real quality players. Come on the Fife

Julen fell into our pockets. By all accounts is on next to nothing and is with us to keep fitness levels up.

Already being watched my a number of clubs according to Naysmith.

Riordan's availability was brought to Naysmith's attention by one of our directors. Apparently GN sold East Fife to him as a shot at getting himself back in the window. We were paying him "petrol money" as a trialist, what we have been able to offer him on his deal, who knows?

Both will be away in the summer, so we just have to enjoy them while they are here.
