Teams who play in council grounds

Just read the tag about the Newmains and Port Glasgow and why it was cancelled.

It seems by past posts that most teams who have dealings with councils have a host of problems, From lack of facilities to lack of interest in the teams.

Newmains are one team who have suffered also Port Glasgow also had difficulty with the council in their new facility.

We at the Albert have been battling the council for years. No we don't have the right to get what ever we want at tax payers expense but the very basics is what teams are fighting for.

They won't let you invest in the park which would benefit everyone using it.

They won't let us put a pie stall in at our expense because of insurance purposes also we have waited over a year for them to repair the wheels on the portable dug outs.

You will find - especially with Labour councils - they see playing fields as something to be sold for another private housing development of crappy kit built little boxes that cost a fortune to heat so the housing convenor gets a kick back to provide much needed starter homes for first time buyers - and then blame the Tories for it.

Any Junior club in North or South Lanarkshire is always going to be on a hiding to nothing - the councils see you more as a nuisance, unless you win something whereupon they want a piece of the PR action. Ultimately, you need to buy the buggers out or move to land you will own, which of course you'd do if you had the money in the first place. Royal Albert's situation really can only be described as another stop gap.
