Arthurlie 1 v Rob Roy 1

Good wee scottish cup day today through in Barrhead . Firstly sorry to gerry ( pelesboots on here isn't it ) for getting in the road of you watching the celtic game in the pub. Nice to speak to you !! and i never said i was 6 feet 8 haha .

Game itself was very competitive , a bit scrappy but a good afternoons entertainment all the same . Pitch was in a poor state , not having a go at arthurlie as they have worked hard for weeks in getting it playable.

1st half i thought from a Roy point of view we did fairly well battled well and created some chances with Duff looking dangerous in particular. Excellent finish from Finnigan from close in the give us the lead, rare goal from the wee guy today , once again he was fantastic today , as was another of our older players Gary McMenamin who put in a very good shift.First look of two new guys , boy watt looked decent worked hard good pace , guy mcdonald did'nt have much luck but looks like he could be a decent player in time.

Arthurlie penalty from where i was was a really soft one , boy was defo looking for it and the referee fair took his time to give it .

second half again we attacked fairly well , had a right good ten min spell where we had one or two excellent chances but failed to score. From memory arthurlie only had one really good chance that we cleared off the line in the second half.

Anyway replay it is , should be an interesting game at guys meadow , good support for the Roy at the game today , hopefully get a similar turn out next week.

Poor from us today, lucky still to be in it.

Only thing the roy keeper had to do in the first half was pick the ball out the net from the pen.(Thought the second half claim was a pen, but given that the first was softish, couldn't complain)

Bit better second, although our keeper made a couple of good saves.

All I seen of the red card was both rolling on the floor, but most around seemed to think the roy 6 should have walked as well as our player. Still had chances even with 10, but wouldn't have been surprised if we had lost a late goal.

Best player on the park was the roy 11. Hopefully a big improvement from us next week.

The red card didn't look to much from a distance, both players were on the ground the arthurlie player seem to do something while on the ground and mcmenamin responded ,mcmenamin probably held himself back just enough to make sure he didn't also get the red card.

Me and the old man were going a bit mad in the excitement of a scottish cup game we were counting the time from a 2pm kick off , wondering why the referee was playing over 10 mins of injury time , only realised our mistake near the full time whistle ha .

If we play the way we did against glenafton at guys meadow in the last round i think we can win , anything less and we will probably struggle to get through .

Arthurlie where poor today but move on to next week imo there will a few changes. Why is Robroy manager disliked by everyone.

Do you like him? Strange thing to say after a decent cup tie with no real bother from either bench.

Some of the neds on the other hand hmm what else can you say other than what are they all about.

he's my mate and i dont even like him:lol:only joking max;)

What Maxi reads this?

What's this rumour going about today about him being picked for the Scotland over 35 team to Play in the world cup in Thailand?

Btw cafu if you were half as good as fellow full back wee Finnigan in your prime you must of been a decent player, sadly i don't remember much of the 1980's so don't remember you in your prime!

No I can't stand him tbh, made a lot of nasty comments about Arthurlie as a football club. So at the end plenty gave him pelters. Anyway move on to next week. Mon the lie.

Man up, he said you weren't a good side? Right? Plenty of managers have passed comment on my team in the past and it's water off a ducks back. Christ your own fans would have been saying you were a poor side when we played you last season. Don't recall him saying anything about arthurlie as a club.

Anyway he maybe regrets it now, he is a young manager who has just stopped playing learning the management game now and doing well after the disastrous end to last season .

young fin was at dumbarton when i was there so i taught him all he knows:lol:the only way you would have seen me in the 80's was if you attended senior games but you being a junior man you wouldn't have seen me;)and we all know why maxi is going to Thailand #Ladyboys:lol:

His comments after the games last season were out of order and not required. Yea he may be a young manager but he is experienced enough in football to know they were out of order. At no time has he apologised or stated it was 'heat of the moment'. He had done well at the roy this season but he will have to live with the abuse and Lie fans are not going to change their opinion of him (until he apologises)

Just hope he comes back! Not good looking for a manager mid season ha.

And you taught Finnigan well, run out of words to praise him, man i wish we had him last season!

What exactly were the comments? All I remember were football related stuff?

Far as i heard he explained to your players and management and said he never meant any offence. Maybe should ask those involved at the time.

End of the day we all say things we regret players managers supporters.

Anyway enjoyed today, not best quality game but good watch. Hopefully we can push on in the league and get back to playing clubs like arthurlie in the league.

i never heard what was said but unless you heard it first hand then i wouldn't read too much into it as sometimes the least wee thing can grow arms and legs depending on who is spreading the rumours.

This was my first Rabs match in three months for one reason or another and i was impressed in how they went about their business.

Plenty of fight and dig on a bumpy pitch with several decent chances created by the men in red and black.

I work away and like to take in as many rabs games as i can when back home and this like many others was five pounds well spent.

I am not sure of players names but i was especially impressed with the keeper , the small right back, the two centre midfielders and the wide man who i later found out was chris duff.

I look forward to the replay, as a 'old timer ' i do wish it was at adamslie a ground i have watched many a cup tie on over the decades but that's not to be.

As ever Mon the famous Rabs! !

A fair summing up of the game Brian. I think we can be the happier team to still be in the cup. I was impressed with Rob Roy yesterday and wouldn't have any complaints if they had beaten us. I was the full length of the park away from the penalty and didn't think it should have stood, the penalty we were denied, I was right next to and thought it was a stonewaller but from what I heard our player admitted to going down easy.

When we went down to 10 men I feared the worst but we survived and It should be a belter of a game next week.

It was nice talking to you and your old man yesterday. Hopefully catch up with you next week.

Paul Stewart didn't feature yesterday did he? You seemed to just play one up front Dallas . Few of your well 'excitable' fans in the shed were crying out for another striker to get put on.

Btw who got brought down for the penalty ?
