Quitongo's Left Peg
IMHO, Celtic have done more to rid the knuckledraggers out of their support in recent years. When I got the train to Celtic v Kilmarnock in October of last year I was able to chat with Celtic fans and enjoy some good #bantz with their fans. Even walked from Bridgeton with a couple of them. No issue whatsoever. Of course their support still has some morons, but it seems like they've been cut down in number dramatically in recent times. Rangers on the other hand... Travelling to the cup game at Ibrox was horrible. Songs that would have been out of place in the 1800's, general abuse and altogether just an insidious atmosphere. Had the unfortunate experience of getting a train to visit the Missus' family when Rangers were away to Dumbarton and the same thing was true. I grew up thinking that Rangers and Celtic supporters were as bad as each other, but it seems that Celtic have made strides forward whereas Rangers aren't even treading water - they're positively sinking in bile. Discuss.
atfccfc
I can’t say for Rangers support as I don’t go to Rangers games but we still have our problems in our support. The games against Hearts bring out the worst in our support and games at Dundee, Motherwell and the youth game at Firhill (against Rangers) showed a lot of work needs still to be done. I think a lot of work is being done to improve our behaviour and it is improving. Its not something that we can be complacent with. Maybe you think we are better behaved because at the moment things are going well for the club. Whereas at Rangers they are in a bad way and the support is probably behaving accordingly. Romeo
I love you In seriousness the cup semi was ruined a wee bit by a few utter weapons behind me that were only interested in the sevco fans and what they were singing. It's true we have some incredible f**k nuggets in our support that should have been drowned at birth. But I think what you say is correct in that because they are going down the pan, in a somewhat hilarious fashion, the New Rangers supporters are getting angrier and more militant. I don't fancy your chances on this thread with the "same arse, different cheek" mob, but good luck.

Happy that you see a difference. I don't post too often on here. I usually save my waffle for twitter. But from what I notice on that particular forum and generally at games and between mates I go with. Is the general conversation is about football and other teams. The politics seems to be kept to a small but still vocal minority.
Quitongo's Left Peg
Maybe because Sevco need these morons to keep pumping cash into the dead carcass of the new club? Well when the % of merchandise sales that go to the club is as low as it's reported to be, you need every penny (literally) you can get. I'm not sure it's as far as the club openly encouraging this kind of behaviour, but they certainly have a lot more to lose from these fans vanishing than Celtic do. Happy that you see a difference. 'The Sash' and other little ditties being belted out on the way to Ibrox, chat about whether Killie could keep up our (then) good form on the way to Celtic Park. I think the 'tic fans appreciated my love for Stefan Johansen.

Chupacabra
Rangers fans are horrible. Singing sectarian songs, throwing coins, and spitting and pouring coffee from the stand above us was what they did last time I was at Ibrox. Celtic seem like absolute arseholes as well to be fair, although I've never been to a Celtic game so can't comment on the matchday experience. I do have folk on Facebook that are part of the Green Brigade and they are absolute mutants, neither Irish nor Catholic yet they post tonnes of sectarian bile, whilst also sharing stories of wrecking stadiums etc. Ended up deleting them because they made me seething. They posted this on Facebook with the caption: This is what real fans are, 10 year old boy at the celtic game yesterday with a green smoke bomb and a bottle of buckfast. 'Real fans'

Just an opinion based on what I've seen in recent years. If you disagree then feel free to argue the point.

throbber
I know more rangers fans but one thing that always gets me is the speed at which they turn into absolute bigots at the drop,of a hat when talking about their club or Scottish football at large and obviously about Celtic and their supporters. A lot of guys are good folk as well but the second they get their rangers hats on its like a wave of seethe and hatred oozes out People seem to think that just because there is an old firm game on then violence and intimidation should be expected as it's a form of tradition but I don't see why the people of Glasgow deserve this threat on a regular basis were not in the 80s anymore

The_Kincardine
Songs that would have been out of place in the 1800's, To establish your credibility you have to cite songs that would have been in place in the 1800s. I suspect that not only can you not do that the rest of your attention-seeking post is utter pish.

bhoy who invented weetabix
The 'up the ra' braindead element are on the decrease amongst our support but those left are VERY noticeable at away games, especially at long journeys where large quantities of Frosty Jack are scooped Cant speak for our newly formed neighbours other than the songs and the level they were sung at on Feb 1st at Hampden were worse than anything I ever heard before the old club bit the pie That MAY have been a one off show of defiance and bravado part brought on by events of the last two years though. Then again it may be a new high level of bigoted arseholes, in fact quite probably come to think of it
