Loss of Home Advantage

There is no hard and fast rule that the game gets moved after a certain number of postponements. It comes down to the individual circumstances of the situation, and with most matches being off the past few weeks then I don't think any home team should be under pressure to get their game moved.

As a rule of thumb, though, the much-postponed Girvan v Rutherglen Glencairn match last season was postponed four times at Girvan, and then for week 5 Girvan were given the opportunity to choose an alternative venue. Girvan did approach Glencairn with a view to potentially switching the tie, but our park was not available that weekend. Girvan then chose Ardrossan for week 5, and it was postponed again. For week 6, Girvan still had the choice of venue, but were told by the SJFA that they had to get a venue that ensured the match would go ahead, and Largs kindly came to the rescue. Inevitably, the match was a draw, meaning a replay at Rutherglen. Weeks 7 and 8 saw Rutherglen's pitch waterlogged, and eventually at week 9 the replay was played. You guessed it, the match went to penalties. :thumsup2 So a tie that was originally scheduled for 18th January 2014 was finally settled on 15th March 2014, and neither side could play any other competitive matches in that time.

Thats not actually true. The powers that be could organise alternative games. Seems only the North Juniors (The ones that Tom Johnstone does not think exist) have the sense to organise this.

You ought to get yourselves some floodlights. That way even if you'd been missing weekend after weekend, there is a good chance you could've been playing some matches on the midweeks in between. Or, once it was reversed, the attempts to play the tie at Rutherglen could have gone to midweek, avoiding any further disruption to Saturdays.

We do have floodlights, but the matches were scheduled for Saturday to Saturday to Saturday to Saturday. We did play a few friendlies in between under floodlights, but we couldn't play competitive matches because we had the cup tie scheduled every Saturday for 9 weeks.

Ironically, when we did eventually get through on penalties at the 9th week, we had the next round the following Saturday and went out in a 1-0 defeat to Bo'ness United. Then we were given Central League Cup fixtures for the two Saturdays after that, so it was 12 weeks in a row on cup duty. In total we went 3 months without a league game.
