I was told in the pub on saturday about the Ormiston fiasco. I just thought the game was off with the recent weather but then was told of this :

Apparently Ormiston told Duns there would be a 10:30 inspection on saturday morning, however, Duns found out via another team from another football association that they had arranged a friendly with Ormiston at 10:00 before they even informed Duns the game was off. IMO thats really bad from Ormiston.

I also heard the situation Kelso had, travelling up to Edinburgh to find out the game was off! Terrible!

For the avoidance of doubt lets state the facts rather than your fiction.

Ormiston secretary called Duns at 9am to advise park was hard in places, we then asked Duns secretary two questions, which were:

1. Can we re inspect at 11.30am, hopefully with the temperatures rising and the strengthing winds there was a small chance of the park thawing.

2. Can we move the game to Duns?

Answers from the Duns secretary were NO and NO, they wanted us to make a decision at 10.30am.

At 10am i received a call from Geoff Jones @ Dunbar, would we play them in a friendly if Hallhill was playable?

I advised Geoff that we were inspecting our park at 10.30am but the likelyhood of our game being on was extremely slim, we then agreed to play each other if our park was deemed unplayable, and Hallhill was deemed playable.

Ormiston secretary calls Duns at 10.20am, no answer but left a message on his answerphone, Duns sec calls back at 10.40am to confirm receipt of message and everything is amicable between clubs.

Surely as a gaffer we have the responsibility in putting alternatives in place should games be put off because of adverse weather, so to summarise before you come on here castigating Ormiston, maybe you should have got your facts right before posting 'Nonsense'

There is always two sides of every story and am glad you wrote back. Having reading the 'facts' there is a few issues though :

Having a pitch inspection at 11:30 is plain stupid, can see the point of view if the team is local but its Duns. Takes over an hour to get up there plus your asking guys to get away from the graft for the lads who work on a saturday, rush up there with little or no time to prepare. With the kick offs being half 1 its really not giving the guys the time. Also swapping the game to Duns you should be aware by now that the Pitch at duns is still unplayable (far as i know but don't quote me)

Second point, you said at 10:00 the game was in doubt. Surely the pitch inspection could have been brought forward at all? The pitch at ormiston was hardly going to thaw out with the recent weather. The also missed calls..surely theres more than one contact number to reach someone on? Manager? Chairman? Other committee members?

FYI i am not having a go at Ormiston. I am moaning about the way the situation was handled. I apologise if it sounded like it but rest assured your not getting special treatment. If it was any other team it would have been the same.way.
