Div Posted July 16, 2015 Share Posted July 16, 2015 I'm now getting redirected on the mobile site to download the app. There has always been a banner on the mobile site advertising the App as being available, but it doesn't re-direct there automatically and once it's hidden once that banner should not re-appear ? We all respect the need for ads and we all love the forum. I'm going to sign up for Platinum. I'll test it for a week. If it sorts my browser problem I shall be happy. Almaty every time I load a new page it redirects to the App Store app trying to get me to download some random game. Site is becoming unusable. this times 1000.dont get it when using wifi but nearly every time i open a page using 3g and always for a betting ap. Correct. And the Advideo stuff on mobile can take ages to load to the point where you can close it. The weight of this stuff is making user experience shitier. Div Posted June 20, 2015 Share Posted June 20, 2015 We've had a few issues recently because of some changes within the data centre and with some backup jobs going crazy but there are no current performance issues with the site. If the ads are causing a slowdown then I will have a look into that as there has been changes there too. On the iPad screenshot above, that is not the iPad skin that is loaded, it's the desktop one. If you want optimum tablet performance let the default iPad skin load and it will be fine, there are hardly any advert slots on that one. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I left it for around 3 minutes and my network activity was showing over 75% most of the time with multiple adverts streaming constantly for that period breaking up and reloading. I only have 3mb plus connection and your advertising sponsors chew up my bandwidth constantly making any other activity on my browser almost impossible to use while logged onto P&B. Some or a lot of pages from any other website whilst using P&B take up to or more than minutes to load often. Div Posted June 20, 2015 Share Posted June 20, 2015 The desktop version of the site is almost unusable today. P+B going downhill day by day . It's been going downhill for over 12 years now. Agreed. I'm afraid the more annoying, megabyte-hungry ads Div pastes all over the place, the less and less likely I am to use the site. Unfortunately the ad industry has changed over the years and ads are becoming more intrusive. It's always a fine line between doing what the advertisers want versus keeping the user experience good. If we are the wrong side of that line now then apologies, I will try and improve the experience. Seriously though the site really is frustrating to use across the last week or so. We've had a number of issues with various things in the back end but these have now all been sorted out. I understand the necessity of advertising to make the site viable, but if we have to have loud, intrusive video ads, can we not have a bit of variety? Basicallly I think the problem is that the forum is not loading the page until all the ads are loaded, which is obviously arse about tit and causes a problem when the ads are being sourced from multiple locations. I've made a change whereby the forum should now load first and the ads second, but I'm not entirely convinced it will work. Very interested to see what you think if it's any better, worse or just the same. Change was made a of about 2 mins ago. Thanks for your patience. Thanks Div, you the man.
