Wind

Is there a provision in the rules for games to be called off because of wind because every game that survives tomorrow will be a farce if the strong wind persists.

Only if the ref deems there's a danger to players or supporters. He couldn't give a xxxx if the goalkeeper can't get goal-kicks out of his box. Should be though.

This probably sounds like a crazy thing to say but there's more chance of senior games being called off due to wind rather than junior games as the senior grounds have got far higher stands which increases the danger of the wind damaging them and the potential of bits & pieces coming off and hurting players or fans.

Agreed that drastic wind can completely ruin a game and when it gets to the stage of goalies kick outs coming back to them then its a complete lottery and not enjoyable.

We played Falkirk 2 seasons back and it was howling, but both managers wanted the game to go head, it did an we had the wind and went 3-0 up in the first 10 mins, the keeper couldn't kick the ball out of his box , then the Falkirk manager asked for it to called of as it was a FARCE and the Dunbar camp agreed and it was postponed. Game should never have started.

Got to say I would much rather play on a mud bath than play in howling wind but I have never known a game to be called off for the wind only and played in some horrendous conditions

Seem to recall Carluke game being called off after the kick off last season, due to the wind.

Usually depends if some light weight ref with his nice coloured shirt gets his bouffant hair blown out of shape.

I remember St Andrews being stripped down at Hill o Beath last winter and the ref was phoning around trying to see if any other games had been called of due to the wind.

He must have got a nod somewhere in Lothian as he called the game off.

All other games in Fifedom were on that day.

Agreed cammy game should never had started! Hopefully the moras game doesnt start the same way!

I Had a game with eaststirling a few years back and the ref was a sensible guy, had the keepers go out and kick the ball to see how much it effected the travel! So when it hit the back of the stand he swiftly called it off. Nothing worse than wind spoiling a game unless your watching it that is.
