Gullane No 4
Just finished reading his [10 year old] autobiography. Good read, made you remember what a full career he had with Leeds, Man U and Inter, plus 52 caps and three World cups. Had me wondering how many Scots have played in three World Cups. Only Scot to have scored in three WCs too. Closest thing we have now is probably Steven Fletcher - a tall, physical presence up front who, although he isn't a regular scorer, does a good job of disrupting play and creating space for other players. Highlandmagyar
I'm sure McQueen, Souness, Rough were at least 3 finals.
Eednud
Kenny Dalglish was in 3 Final squads and Jim Leighton made 4, I think.
Dunning1874
Kenny Dalglish was in 3 Final squads and Jim Leighton made 4, I think. Leighton was in four squads, but only played in three: he didn't play in 1982 but was ever-present at 86, 90 and 98.

Gordopolis
fletchers the best we've got just now, but he's not even on the same planet as Jordan was I don't think the gap is as big as that. Jordan played for top clubs in Britain in an era when British teams signed (largely) British players instead of skimming the best players from all over the world. It's a bit of a woolly argument, but I reckon if Jordan was playing today he'd be roughly at Fletcher's level. Fair dos though that Jaws played for AC Milan too - that is quite a feather in the cap. Gordopolis
Are you sure about McQueen? He only played for Scotland between 1974 and 1981, so he could only have been at 2 finals max. His international career was surprisingly short and yielded few caps (30 caps, 5 goals).
RandomGuy.
McQueen was part of the 1978 squad, but never played. Leighton played at three (86, 90, 98), so did Dalglish (74, 78, 82), Jordan (74, 78, 82), Souness (78, 82, 86) and McLeish (82, 86, 90). Theres possibly more
The_Kincardine
Nice wee Jordan montage here, including him showing the original 'hand of god' at Anfield in 1977:
Monkey Tennis
McQueen was part of the 1978 squad, but never played. Yes, I remember that. He'd got injured against Wales in the Home Internationals. I also thought that he hadn't lasted long enough to reach '82, which is confirmed above. I'd have guessed he'd have been part of the '74 squad though. I think he was at Leeds by then and they provided a huge chunk of the squad. I take it that it came a little early for him and he missed out?

They'd need to come from that era and I think you've covered those who actually got on the pitch in three tournaments. Back to Jordan, at the time of his feat, he was the only British player to have scored in three tournaments, but he's not anymore. Beckham has done it - not sure whether there are others? No just a mistake by me, he was in the 1974 squad as the "last" defender, again he never played. He'd made his Scotland debut in a pre-World Cup friendly against Belgium in which they lost 2-1, and obviously must not have impressed, and it wasn't until May 1975 he became a proper first team defender for his Country. Not that I know of, although he did score more than Beckham over three tournaments. Doesn't come close to being the top British goalscorer at the World Cup though, sadly.
