2015/6 Elite Status

I don't see why they need to limit the numbers on this? I don't know about Dundee, ICT or Ayr but Saints have spent a lot of money jumping through these hoops for the SFA and it will be a significant kick in the balls if they don't get an elite place.

Ayr have a provisional Elite place. Ayr United Youth Academy deserves it IMO , results on the Park should count , 20s in Quarter Finals of Little Big Shot Scottish Cup , 17s top of the league with a 100% record since it went competitive and have beaten St Mirren 5 -1 away in a friendly and went down 2 - 1 away to Celtic who are seemingly winning easily most weeks in Elite. When you see the work that goes in down at Ayr to the Youth side of things it makes no sense to exclude an Academy like this IMO.

Partick Thistle have everything in place just now to be on a par with teams in the elite tier so baffles me as to why they are put onto a provisional list. The only box they don't tick is the player progression from Academy to First Team but to go from a 2 star rating to 4 star rating in a year shows how much the club is now going down the road of producing there own players to come through the ranks.

Pretty sure Dundee may have got it. I know a relative of one of the Youth coaches, who's been forced to quit because the SFA take control of when the training sessions take place and its become impossible for him to be involved anymore.

seems like you haven't seen the scores at younger age levels ,double figure scores every week????????

Why do you think that Silentnight?

There were 5 teams working towards Silver level. Patrick, Dundee, ICT, St Johnstone and Ayr. Only Partick and Ayr made the grade.

You know it's development football until 17s and results have no bearing on the SFA decision? There's a myriad of considerations and scores aren't one of them.

Any academy breaking through to Silver Star status had to do a power of work and investment. That should, in time, reap benefits not just to individual kids development but work its way through to first team appearances. Ayr have already notched up over 450 from Academy boys.

What would you like to have seen?

Can't speak for the other two clubs but I know Saints invested several hundred thousand pounds into trying to make the step up but were left feeling the goalposts were moved late on. Seems incredibly unfair to me that if a club can meet the criteria - and Saints are more than willing - and still be excluded.

The club are going to try and run things as close to elite level as they can (without the additional relevant funding) but are now apparently shut out of this level for three years.
