Kilbowie's Finest
Is the McGivern from Livingston(e) Sammy McGivern who ended up in the seniors at Falkirk?
The real Arabic maverick
Is there a reason this fixture no longer occurs? Maybe on a yearly basis?
Wile E Coyote
Is there a reason this fixture no longer occurs? Maybe on a yearly basis? I'm glad it doesn't take place anymore. Its a nothing game that would use up a valuable saturday
clash city rocker
Baillie Kilbirnie and Leckie of Darvel were brilliant defenders.Dennis Gray Talbot superb.Ian McParland Ormiston went senior in England.
PRICEY
I personally think its a shame the inter regional matches still dont happen,it gave the smaller clubs a chance of representitive honors.Below is a picture of Dunipace forward John Paisley when selected for the Central League..... 8/5/89 Central Region 3 East Region 2 played at Southcroft Park, the East were actually 2-0 up. Ian McPaland is a Notts County legend.legend. Im certain that only 15 months later he was in the 40 man provisional squad for the Spain 82 world cup,may even have been a stand by.Oh how the game has changed.......for the worse. clash city rocker
Ian McPaland is a Notts County legend.legend. Im certain that only 15 months later he was in the 40 man provisional squad for the Spain 82 world cup,may even have been a stand by.Oh how the game has changed.......for the worse. Kilbirnie beat Ormiston in the Junior Cup,McParland scored then got sent off after throwing a beautiful right hook....he was sensational, far above everybody on the pitch that day. PRICEY
Team sheet to go with the match mentioned in 1989.Looking at the Central team some really good players.Cant think of a better right back than Ally Marshall,Big Joe Carson who had a decent senior career most notably with Motherwell.Pat Murray was a hardy wee barsteward with great energy,Rocky Crichton needs no introduction,God knows how many times the Pace tried to sgn Gerry Hamilton and is that Tom Donnelly of V.O.C.?,

The Old Northerner
TJ wasn't in post at the SJFA until 1999. This game was a Central Region affair so that's where he must have cut his teeth
peasy23
We signed Pat Murray from Kilsyth and Willie Gibson from Arthurlie not long after that. Billy Reid was hard as nails, his daughter is now more famous (or should that be notorious) than he ever was.
garrellburn
Regarding the East v Central game programme. The late Jimmy Harrison was match secretary and did a very fine job too! Don't think we heard nearly as many complaints about fixtures back then. Also remember the East region reserve goalkeeper, Berwick of Tranent; he put up the finest display of goalkeeping i have ever seen in a junior game in the second replay of a 4th round scottish tie v kilsyth at Prestonfield around that time. Game went to extra time and penalties, Kilsyth threw everything at him in extra time. When it went to penalties we knew it was all over although we also had a very good keeper in Tommy Workman. Thats how it turned out, Berwick was acting the goat on the line to the extent that the ref twice ordered missed kicks retaken, his tactics worked though, Tranent won on penalties
kilsythblue
Andy workman ! John... Games went to 3rd game and then extra time and pens!!! Hence why the game ended up at Linlithgow. Great Kilsyth team that was. Remember big Lenny McComb ended up in goal in the first game after Andy got sent off! Ahhhhh memories.
