FM2015 Career

I'm going to do a career based challenge where rather than focus one just one team (normally Dumbarton or San Marino being the glutton for punishment that I am) I intend to focus more on having a career as I hardly ever move clubs. That doesn’t mean I intent to blindly switch teams all the time – but it’ll have to be the right team and I’ll look to see how far I can go in the game.

For the purposes of this challenge I’m starting at the very bottom – I’ve added the Highland/Lowland leagues into the playable section (I’m not doing what I did before and add every lower league team under the sun, regionalize them and then start with the diddiest of diddy teams on a fucking island in the North Sea – I’m looking at you Kirkwall Rovers!) so I’m starting in the Lowland League. The very setup of both these leagues makes it difficult to progress so it’ll be a tough start but also an interesting way to see how likely it is to happen.

Anyway I’ve chosen…..

Easily the best named team in the league, so that’ll do.

Erm…. The finances said OK, and no wonder if the club doesn’t spend any money. I can see this being a right fucking struggle. Here are my 3 best players according to my assistant.

Welsh seems not too bad actually, although I might have to play a more aerial game with my best striker only really being good at heading. First thing I normally is look to improve my staff as much as possible, but with no budget that’s out of the window right away. Given I can’t sign anyone either I’m just going to have to do the best with what I have.

Transfers

I did manage to bring in 3 players, as it turned out that none of my players are actually under contract – meaning they’re not costing me anything. The downside being that anyone can sign them. I can’t afford to sign even my best players to new contracts so I’ll just have to take the chance that no one tries to sign them.

Anyway all that out the way here’s how Pre-Season went:

Given I'm expected to challenge for the title, I'm hoping that the other sides in the league are as restricted signings wise as I am.

For some reason it seems I’ve not changed the leagues run dates meaning the fixtures are spread out by a month or so more than usual. Meaning I only played 3 games in July/August. Decent enough start though. The first game against Threave, the score line flattered us. We got a dodgy penalty and a last minute goal, it wasn't a good display. However we dramatically improved scoring 13 goals in 2 games, which got us off to an acceptable start if it’s a league challenge we’re after.

I've actually played through a season of this (I kept all my future posts on a word document as i have a habit of not updating otherwise) and it seems due to mixup with the start date off all leagues means that next seasons league wont actually happen so I cant play through this anymore. I'll need to start again once I've corrected the error in the database. So this wont get updated.
