Heard a fan excusing this season's performances by saying that senior clubs had snapped up their best players, but only Danny Cavanagh and Kevin Buchan have gone senior since last season and Buchan was on loan from Peterhead anyway, I believe.

Losing Brian Clark to Downfield was a big blow as was Jon Voigt's injury.

Need a striker like McComiskie of North End. Power and pace is what he brings and never gives defenders any peace.

Maybe this is a bit more 'neutral' for you:

Lochee United’s Scottish Cup sojourn came to an end at the hands of an impressive Blantyre Vics side at Thomson Park.

The visitors, apart from a spell at the start of the second half, dominated the game and ran out 3-1 winners against a Bluebells side that had Paul Blackwood red carded late on.

There was an early blow for the home side when goalkeeper Mark Fotheringham was injured in the warm-up and his place had to be taken by Josh Gray.

And Gray was quickly in action when he tipped a Smith header round the post for a corner, before also palming away a fierce Galt free kick.

It was 15 minutes before the Bluebells notched up any sort of reply, a Gates free kick and the follow-up by Beedie both being blocked.

On 20 minutes Galt spotted Gray marginally off his line and tried a 30-yard effort that came back off the Lochee bar.

Three minutes later, Smith burst through but shot wide and Gray had to react again when he tipped a Hewitt header round the post.

The home side gradually fought their way back into the game and Hagan’s shot from wide right was brilliantly tipped over by keeper Macklin. A minute later Gallacher headed a Scott cross over the bar.

Then Blackwood burst through the middle only to shoot wide of the target.

On 34 minutes the visitors went ahead. Galt was going away from goal when he was upended in the box and Kirkwood stuck the resultant penalty low into the bottom left corner.

However, three minutes later, Lochee were level. Gates’s cross was headed away into the path of Gallacher whose effort was turned in by Hagan.

Lochee had a great chance to take the lead minutes later when Blackwood bore down on goal. With fellow team-mates up in support he elected to shoot but found keeper Macklin in the way.

HT: Lochee United 1 Blantyre Vics 1

The first 10 minutes of the second half saw Lochee’s best spell of the match and it looked as though Blantyre’s first half misses would come back to haunt them.

A shot from Hagan was tipped over the bar and then Gates almost set up a chance for Hagan but the player hesitated and the ball was cleared.

Almost immediately, the Lanarkshire side went ahead when a shot from Green was deflected past Gray.

Just on the hour mark, the visitors more or less secured their passage into the next round when Kirkwood scored his second, though he needed three attempts from close in to squeeze the ball past Gray.

With 18 minutes to go manager Steven Leahy put on Kieran Sturrock for Percy in an attempt to add to their goalscoring options, but that went out the window when Blackwood, who had been booked earlier, was sent off for what the referee deemed simulation when he went down in the penalty box.

There was still time for Gray to bring off a great save from Vics’ substitute Ross as the visitors eased their way into the next round.

Lochee United: J Gray, Bannon, C Gray, Kirk, Percy (Sturrock 72), Scott, Beedie, Gallacher, Hagan, Blackwood, Gates. Subs not used: Cargill, S Gray, Martin.

Blantyre Vics: Macklin, Amos, Sinclair, McShane, Hewitt, McLaughlin (Christie 90), Galt (Caldwell 77), Green, Smith, Kirkwood (Ross 70), Malcolm. Subs not used: Mullen, Davis.

All going wrong for Lochee just now.Not the team on the pitch they were years back. Can see them getting relagated from the super league. Dont see your point though TLJ. The headline reads fine, they have been knocked out all other cups and no chance of league so their last chance of anything was yesterday in the scottish.

So you think a team that has conceded 35 goals in the league has a chance of wining the Scottish cup you are as deluded as the writer of the quote.Lochee will find Armadale a handful on Saturday as we did yesterday on a shocking park.Webby are you McComiskies uncle not a super league striker.

Sorry for being pedantic but when I see misspelling "Who rights" then I can't take the post serious. Then I see it's a HoB supporter. Got to make allowances then!!

Sorry wanks have sorted it for you bit prone to spelling mistakes .

Was at the match on Saturday and felt Lochee had too many youngsters in their team, whereas the Vics had a good mix of experience and youth. It was a good even game and the Vics took the lead in the second half pretty much against the run of play. After that Lochee heads dropped a little and the third goal killed them off. Good wee day out and the home made lentil soup was worth the admission fee alone :)

League winners and relegation is not decided in November and with 18 games still to play, Lochee United are a long way from being relegated.
