Buying a duck this year. Due to work commitments my partner and I are staying down here. Decided to go for a smaller bird as we're only cooking for two, but wanted something a bit more special than chicken. Ordered a duck from Waitrose, which is probably the most middle-class thing I've done in my life.

She's working nights on Christmas Eve and Christmas day, so basically using Boxing Day as our actual Christmas and I'm going to spend Christmas day getting drunk on my own, watching Bond films and baking biscuits and mince pies for the following day.

In a weird way I'm quite looking forward to it.

That and being a Blairite.

Sorry it was just hanging there.

As is the norm these days for me, off to the Mother-in-law's for Christmas dinner with the daughters and granddaughters. Lots of food (strangely ham over here, turkey is for Thanksgiving) pressies and leftovers for me to take home and eat for a couple of days. She obviously thinks I can't look after myself on my own, despite the fact I always did all the cooking.
