I'm guessing McCoist wanted this postponed because one first team player was on international duty. Well done to the board for insisting the game go ahead, if that is indeed what happened.

1) There would be a loss in income due to the game being switched to a midweek game.

2) Rangers would then need to play 3 games in one week which would increase the chances of the team not winning all 3 matches.

3) It would give Hearts a psychological boost going into the match at Tynecastle if they were 7 points clear.

4) The quality of the opposition does not merit the game being postponed. (albeit Rangers dropped points to them already. But still.)

3-0. :)

Oh you mean they are not deciding to postpone the game due to the international call up. Nothing to do with them being skint. Hypocrites.

Fuxake. I was come to this thread to make a "So who will be the first to criticise us going ahead with the game?" type post. Beat me too it!

Hopefully we can derail this run rangers are on, I thought we were unlucky not to get all 3 points when we last played. Will the boy McLeod be missed to make a difference?

Could really do with picking up at least a point here. Just more of the same the last time we played them.

Different scenario away from home though. I would love a point but ultimately a good effort and not getting pumped would be a decent enough outcome.

Ayr in the cup first anyway, hopefully we can get a win in that game and go to Ibrox with a bit of momentum.

This is the game MacLeod will obviously miss, we usually play shite without the the wee man, but we've got more than enough to make this a comfortable game.

3-0

Mmm not so sure watch Sally ask wee Gordon if he can play him on the Saturday, sure he won't feature v rep of Ireland on the frid.

From the Scotsman

"

Ally McCoist will consider asking Scotland coach Gordon Strachan to release Lewis Macleod from international duties so he is available to play for Rangers on Saturday.

The young midfielder was last week named in the Scotland squad for matches against Republic of Ireland and England. But if Macleod is merely to be an observer for the Euro 2016 qualifier against the Irish on Friday, Rangers manager McCoist says he may ask permission to have him back briefly for the game against Alloa Athletic on Saturday.

“I wouldn’t rule that out,” McCoist said. “From our point of view it would make sense but I do appreciate that he is Gordon’s player for these five or six days. But that’s something we would possibly have a look at. Hearts are trying to do that with two of their under-21 players so I will certainly have a chat with Gordon.”

Hearts asked – and were granted – permission to have Sam Nicholson and Jordan McGhee released so they can play against Falkirk on Saturday. Scotland U21s have a game against Switzerland three days later, the same day the senior national side face England at Celtic Park."

Oh for goodness sake Ally, let the lad have his chance, we are playing bloody Alloa at home (no disrespect)

What chance? He isn't going to be playing and Strachan has said he wants to have a look at him in training and for him to feel part of the squad. Great. Let him go but if Strachan has no intention of playing him why not have him back for an important league game?

Hearts have asked for 2 or 3 of their players to be released from the Under 21s and i am pretty sure they would have more chance of featuring in that game.

McCoist has to do what is best for Rangers Football Club and that is to make sure that he is able to field the strongest team he possibly can and that team would include Lewis McLeod.

Our players are going back to the u21 squad after the game as the u21 game is on the Tuesday.

I have no problem with that..None... Rangers and Hearts managers job is to do what is best for their club and that is fielding the strongest team possible.

of course but I don't think McLeod will be released in between games. No harm in asking but can't see it.

They cant release Hearts players who will probably play and not release McLeod who has next to no chance of playing.

it's a totally different thing. There's no u21 game on Friday. It's a friendly away next midweek and the players are joining the squad late.

Who says McLeod won't play brilliantly in training and get on the bench for Friday night?
