Have been told the pitch at Islecroft was fine apart from one very small area that was still playable but would probably not last until the end of the game with all the rain that was falling. Both teams thought the pitch was ok but officials thought otherwise. Shame for City who were at the ground and happy to play but I hear they had a lot of players missing so they maybe got a wee break there.

BSCG v Whitehill off for a waterlogged pitch (Lochburn park doesn't bode well on that front eh?), and it's the same story in Innerleithen where Vale of Leithen v EK has been postponed.

News of any more, or inspections?

. Maryhill's park has always been poor that way, and now u have two teams playing on it

It's unlikely to be that big an issue anyway as Lochburn Park has floodlights?

Their use is frowned upon in the Juniors, but not in Senior football, so even if BSCG suffer a few more postponements than the average, they could always catch-up on midweek even if they'd run-out of weekends.

Of course it is it doesn't alter the amount of rain we've had this week

So every other game in glasgow was off this weekend?

Or just the one with the pitch used every single week?

The point I think he's trying to make is that the pitch is off at the first weeks heavy rain of the season- and that doesn't bode well for the rest of the year, particularly if it gets played on every week with less time to recover and more damage done during each game.

What u on about ??? Ive just said Maryhill playing surface is not the best, ive seen bsc play on it and ive played on it in the past, look I think u have taking a dislike to me I'm just saying what I think, and all points I bring up r true, as I've said in the past ive played a little senior but mostly junior I go to any games from senior to junior teams like Clydebank, yoker, vale of Leven, Bsc, st mirren, Dumbarton, Pollok, Thistle I just like my football

I know what point he was making so what of the other games called off in the lowland league do they get played on every week or maybe the rain was just torrential

Both. No sure about Dalbeattie, but reports on here and twitter suggest that the ref may have been a little precious with his decision. Vale hosted a cup final six days ago- and the pitch looked heavy then so can't have helped.

Be interesting to see if the BSC pitch is off more than others in the LL- plastic pitches not included.

there was a bit of a monsoon at Vale for the first game of the season on 2nd August (summer football eh?!) .

With the greatest of respect to the fine club that is Dalbeattie Star and I enjoy my visits there, the Islecroft Pitch always struck me as being a wee bit prone to waterlogging. I was actually coming up from Lancaster today after a short break to catch the game and given there was a lot of rain in the area I wasn't terribly surprised the game was off. (I did pop into Galabank to see if there was a South game there and the weather wasn't too bad in Annan!).

I ended up catching the second half at a drookit Palmerston and I can say that if Queens still had a grass pitch that game would probably have been abandoned giving the heavy rain over Dumfries today.
