Clarkston5
Here is a couple of quotes which encompass my general criticisms of liberals Quote Same arguments since the 19th century.. “Socialism, like the ancient ideas from which it springs, confuses the distinction between government and society. As a result of this, every time we object to a thing being done by government, the socialists conclude that we object to its being done at all. We disapprove of state education. Then the socialists say that we are opposed to any education. We object to a state religion. Then the socialists say that we want no religion at all. We object to a state-enforced equality. Then they say that we are against equality. And so on, and so on. It is as if the socialists were to accuse us of not wanting persons to eat because we do not want the state to raise grain." - Frederic Batsiat I think this is pertinent and relevant to my point. When you apply relativism to the above, it means certain issues become prohibited from society while ill conceived ideas like "equality" become mandatory. Thinks like the "equality" commission, for example become a way of forcing people to comply.
Wee Bully
The liberal left's dominant bullying of free speech has gone on now since the 60's but recently it's gathered pace. It seems that "engagement" means agreement with every trivial issue that they force on people. The EU's human rights ethos is good in principle but in reality it means we have to pay for and agree to things we were never consulted about. Also the lie about climate change which is largely unquestioned and unchallenged which we have to pay for. Thoughts.... Ok Reynard, I'll bite. Which human rights are you objecting to? The PC Brigade need to up their game in the "strangling free speech" stakes, I reckon. Everywhere I look - TV, papers, magazines, websites - there are fvcktons of angry roasters exactly like you, all of them doing what you're doing... Pretending that you're not allowed to say the things that you are actually saying very clearly, over and over, without any interference or "dominant bullying" whatsoever from "the liberal left", or anyone else. Clarkston5
I'll give you an example. I don't like cigarette smoke but I do reserve the right for smokers to do so. The left want it banned and anyone who would dare smoke in a public place should be fined. The contradiction - declassify drugs so that we have a situation where a more harmful drug is ok while a less harmful drug is prohibited. I'm delighted that the appropriately named "rodent" came on and confirmed my OP

No better I give examples eh? Then the frothing lefties will swoop on the thread and rant about issues that have got f**k all to do with their lives and never will affect them. flyingrodent
Someone can try to persuade me that trolling internet forums using several different aliases over a period of months is NOT mental illness but they'll need to produce some evidence. Reynard and his aliases are basically killing this forum. Maybe that's the intention. The geezer clearly doesn't even know what he's upset about. He's just repeating stock phrases that he's picked up on zoomer websites, without bothering to fit them together so they make sense.

Figures... ... Yes voters are thick. The thread was actually about the leftist liberalism that's infected UK and EU political spheres in particular although Obama's attempts at obtaining a socialist state appear to have failed in the States. That said the minority issues/climate change rubbish will drone on. The eradication of free speech should be a concern though. Think of how easily lefties are offended and how vicious they truly are if you say or worse still.....commit a "thought crime" ... No better I give examples eh? SodjesSixteenIncher
Yeah, I doubt it's Reynard. He has some fucked up views and is a bit gullible about getting his info from nutters on Twitter but Reynard doesn't actually come across as thick, a la Clarkston, Haggis Pakora, Mr Bairn etc etc.

Dunning1874
Ever notice how people who spend all their time complaining about the 'loony left' are incapable of defining what the left is, and don't actually have a clue what they're complaining about? They also never identify as being right wing. I've asked plenty of the nutters who go on about "the left" what political ideology they agree with, and they've awkwardly slithered off each time. Imagine if what you believed in was so embarrassing you couldn't even admit it The political equivalent of Old Firm fans with Scotland as their P&B profile team.
