The Albert were knocked out of the scottish cup by there premier league opponents today at Tilework park. The game was played in blustery conditions which wasted the game but credit to the two teams for putting on a good game, although beaten the Albert can take a lot from the game.

The Albert had the better of the first half creating good chances which unfortunately they did not take which they would pay for later.

Shettleston goal gave a lot to good fortune when a cross come shot looped over the Albert keeper. They should have been awarded a penalty when the Albert keeper brought down their forward but the referee waved play on not his first mistake of the day as he was poor to say the least.

The Albert were unlucky to go in one down but missed good chances to at least equalise.

The second half was a different story with Shettleston scoring two goals in the first 10mins to kill off the game as they controlled most of the second half but the Albert kept plugging away and were awarded with a penalty with 10mins to go which was scored by James McGill

the Albert had Jordan Patterson sent off for a second yellow card which stunned everyone watching but on the referees performance not surprising.

Shettleston deserved their victory and good luck in the next round but the Albert can take a lot from the game as they kept plugging away.

Both teams provided good entertainment despite the windy conditions.

2 or 3 fine saves from the visiting goalie denied Albert a well deserved 1st half lead.

Instead they went in a goal down, Shettlestons no4 hit one from long range, it clattered off the underside of the MIR space station & ended up in the back of the Albert net.

Shettleston no6 put his side 2 in front when he chipped the Albert goalie from the left edge of the 6yd box.

The visitors no9 blasted powerfully into the roof of the Albert net a couple of minutes later to put his side 3 in front.

Albert got a penalty late in the game which no9 McGill expertly sent the Shettleston goalie the wrong way.

Good luck to Shettleston in the next round.

Decent showing from the home side, where they showed off another excellent training ground move from a corner from the right, Albert are better than even the top sides at producing moves from set plays I've never seen before.

Good luck to them for the rest of the season.
