Good idea or bad idea?

How about we play a SPL V Championship select side instead of a B international?

And give WGS the chance to see some of the players he may have in his mind?

And judge how far away the ones that are doing well in Scotland are away from national selection?

And if any in the championship look ready to be involved in his squad again?

For example this could be the squads

Championship

Outwith a keeper we have little playing there so we would prob have a SPL one in

Caddis Birmingham City

Forsyth Derby

MacKenzie BlACKPOOL

Cooper Leeds United

Henry Wolves

McDonald Wolves

Cairney Blackburn Rovers

Russell Derby County

Paterson Nottingham Forest

May Sheffield Wed

Stewart Ipswich Town when he is over his broken jaw?

Fraser Bournemouth

Smith Leeds United

Palmer Sheffield Wed

McGrandles Norwich City

And this could be the SPL side

Again going to miss out a keeeper

Watson Dundee United

Shinnie ICT for Barajag

Reynolds Aberdeen

Souter Dundee United

McGinn Saint Mirren

Armstrong Dundee United

Pawlett Aberdeen

Christie ICT

McLean Saint Mirren also scored against Celtic

Doolan Partick Thistle why not scores against Celtic?

Care expand on this train of thought?

Could this not have been done at the start of the season at least?

When teams where getting under way for the start of the season?

Everybody he wants to see in the one place no traveling to see games?

It has to be better than a get together seeing them play?

Who ever he wants to call up

And for the SPL guys its a chance to impress scouts

And get a move to a better league down south

At the start of the season (pre-season) teams are jetting off all over Europe to training camps/friendies..........no Club would thank Gordon Strachan for playing a pointless friendly that only Dryhorce wants to see.

And they can jet back when the match is over who cares what the clubs say he is the one in control

Its him that picks them at the end of the day and if the players never came he gets to see there loyalty

And if that is the type of man that he wants to be working with that is to coward to stand up to there gaffer

Plenty of players over the years did just that when they were told to say that they were injured

And the ones that done that are in the Scottish football hall of fame and rightly so as well

Forgot to stick the young lad at Celtic McGregor into the SPL team he would certainly start if it happened

Why would Strachan go upsetting various managers across Scotland & England?! besides, he can't just arrange friendlies when he wants one! They have to be within the agreed International fixtures window.

Bad idea.

It would be under the bracket of a pre season friendly not a official international

Say Middlesburgh were up to see Ryan Christie but McGinn has a great game and they end up buying him

Are you trying to tell me that Saint Mirren would not be happy getting what they believe he is worth?

On standing out against a team of regular established championship performers

And the fact Rotherham already want McGinn and Sheff United will come for him when they are up

Clough tried to get him this year but was priced out what Saint Mirren believe that he is worth

Would love him ending up there big club great support with a lot of history could do well there one day

Oh and they have plenty of Scots to in there side so it would be like a home from home for him

Obviously if he cant find a move to the BPL to a team that might let him play and play young guys like say Swansea

Great idea although I would extend this to a triangular series and bring in a side for non-uk based Scots who are maybe off Strachan's radar. Dryhorce would be in charge of the "International Scots" team. In the weeks leading up to the game he could travel the globe chapping on eligible players' doors inviting them to play in his side. Could maybe even get a documentary out of it.
