Looking that way. If gap gets to double digits before the new year then I would say we are all then jostling for play off position. Consistency makes a Champion. Rovers still prone to self destruct,

Indeed. Champions don't lose home games to East Stirlingshire; they cuff them 4-0. And they keep 11 players on the pitch nearly all of the time.

While the other teams scrap away taking points from each other, do the Lichties have this in the bag already? One slip up on week three but they've been extending their lead since they regained it the next week.

I would say so Bold. There wasn't much between the teams when we played them but they managed to grind out the result. That's the difference between winning the league and coming 2nd. Would love to catch them but we are dropping silly points. Let's hope we can keep going and get a play off spot.

Hard to see Arbroath chucking this away given their current run of form. Ok,they'll lose a couple of matches between now and the end of the season but the gulf between them and the rest of us looks too big to bridge. They have a swagger about them that champion teams carry. Rovers to finish 2nd, with the rest of the league (excluding us on our piss-poor current form) scrapping for the remaining play-off spots. If the Lichties are really ambitious, they should be aiming for a points record.

Woah lads calm it down eh. Yes we have looked very good in some games but theres a longggggg way to go. Moore said 20 wins would win us the league. We have 28 games to get another 13, definitely doable. I feel that we have now got one of the divisions best goalies, we are solid at the back and have height at the back, we have a hardworking creative central midfield pair, 2 tricky wingers especially Linn who looks a cut above and uptop an experienced poacher in McManus and a young promising live wire Murray up next to him. It DOES look good but I've known Arbroath to long to get confident, it'll go tits up someplace or somehow.

Very tricky long journey tomorrow night then the 4th derby of the season Saturday, if we pick up 2 wins that will be 9 wins from 10 which I don't know has ever been achieved by an Arbroath side.

I'm just happy not to be at the bottom this season, for anyone who says the gap between the 2 divisions doesn't exist you're kidding yourselves, big big gulf IMO.

Are you genuinely basing your 'no difference in standard' opinion on two games, which were essentially cup ties, against a team from a higher division with Stirling coming out on top?

I assume Clyde beating Ayr in a one off diddy cup game at the start of the season also proves your point

I think Arbroath, Stirling and Peterhead fans are the ones currently in a position to comment on how they see the difference in standard, not fans of teams who're used to seeing shite in this division week in week out for a number of years now. :)

On what I've seen so far, Arbroath are head and shoulders better than anyone else, and no one else is really that good. It's actually a fairly poor standard of Division this year. Again, it's based on only one game, but I was expecting East Fife to be better.

Know it all? No.

In a pretty good position to make a judgement on the difference in standard between the two divisions having seen 36 league games in the division above for the last 3 years, and 36 games in this division in the 3/4 years prior to that, as well as the 8 games we've played so far this year? Yes.

Out of interest - what're you basing your opinion on - have you seen a lot of League 1 football in the last few years as a comparison to League 2?

In terms of the 'It's over' stuff, it would be ridiculous if anyone genuinely thought this to be the case - It's pretty obvious no-one really believes that. As has been said, the standard of the division overall is fairly poor, and we've done enough to be a wee bit ahead of everyone else at this stage, grinding out results over the first quarter. We certainly aren't miles ahead of other teams on individual quality alone, and I fully expect we'll go on a poorish run at some point, as almost always happens to a team who start off very well.

Teams in this league go on crazy runs of good form all the time; East Stirlingshire flew out of the traps last season but were awful for huge chunks of it, we had a terrific run at this time which got us into the playoff spots, Stirling finished strongly and that took them into League 1 despite them calling for their manager's head for the entire campaign. I think it was the year before that Montrose had a great run that briefly had them threatening the playoffs before just missing out.

A wee burst of confidence and consistent selection of your team will achieve that for you. A couple of injuries and teams will go on horrible runs. Interesting to see what happens if the likes of Nicoll, Linn or Carreiro end up missing large chunks of the season.

Unfortunately I don't see any other team that look like they'll be strong enough to put together a run. Maybe Albion Rovers if the manager drops himself and they keep key players fit.
