Galty Posted October 15, 2014 Share Posted October 15, 2014 Just been confirmed today that our cup final v Cumbernauld has been arranged for gaswork's park - Larkhall !! No disrespect to Larkhall but I'm sure they could have picked a better ground for a cup final ? Logistically is possibly the one of the worst the SJFA could have picked pretty sure not many people will be going out there way on a Sunday away over to larkhall !! What's wrong with Maryhill where is has been in recent years ? Even any of the decent Glasgow grounds would be a better pick than Larkhall surely ! Having already played at Larkhall this season , Again no disrespect but it's not the greatest park going and I'm sure again could have been plenty better solutions. Also seen the question asked on twitter had it been two of the bigger teams in the west in the final would the final be played at Gasworks ?? I think not ! Ok it's an astro but it's a fitting ground for a final and if it isgood enough for senior football it's better than Larkhall with the greatest respect to the fine people of Larky. There's nothing wrong with Newlandsfield but finals should be shared around suitable junior grounds. Pollok have had more than their fair share in recent years. Somervell did used to get quite a few of these games, Maryhill also, but it is far too tight a ground in my view for a showpiece game. Glencairns newI home not a great venue either, pitch not really up to scratch. Easy access for both sets of supporters, good parking and dare I say it, not too far from a decent pub are other considerations. Petershill has many of these attributes but many teams might not like the synthetic surface. We at kilsyth would be delighted to host one of these games, we do get quite a few Amatuer finals and have had nothing but praise for our facilities, maybe just a little bit too far out geographically though?
