After beating Forth 7 nil last week confidence should have been high, how wrong we were as they put in their worst performance for along time.

Full marks must go to Vale who deserved their win after playing 80 mins with ten men after their goalie was sent off.

The game started with the Albert on the front foot and could have 2 up within the first 5 mins but good saves from the Vale keeper kept them out. Then with 10 mins played a through ball put Scott McLachlan in on the keeper who brought him down for a penalty and the referee harshly sent off the Vale keeper as their was 2 defenders behind him. Outfield player went in goal and his first act was to save a poor Fraser Stobie penalty. This penalty miss was to vome back and haunt the Albert butseemed to give the Vale a lift and 10 mins later Craig Smith tipped a looping shot over the bar. The Albert were giving the ball to easily bur after 20 mins they

were awarded a penalty when saf was fouled in the box and he took the penalty and scored to put the Albert one up. Instead of steadying the Albert they played worse allowing the Vale to take control of the game , The Albert keeper pulled of to great saves on after the other to keep Vale out.

the whistle went for the end of the first half with the Albert just holding on for the leed.

Unfortunately the second half was worse than the first with the Vale going on the attack and the Albert continually giving the ball away and it was no surprise when the Vale equalised from a corner poor marking allowed a shot from 6 yds to to beat the Albert goalie . The Vale continued to dominate the game but the Albert went 2-1 up against the run of play when an Alan Campbell shot hit the post and was cleared to Scott McLachlan 25 yds out who vollied it with his left foot to score a great goal. Again the Albert let the Vale back into the game and 10 mins later ther were level when horrific defending by the Albert defence gave away a penalty from which the Vale scored.

The Vale continued to dominate the game and with 5 mins to go the scored from a breakaway when the Albert keeper ran out his box but missed the ball allowing the Vale forward to run in on goal his first shot was blocked but fell to the other striker shot in from 6 yds.

The game ended with the Vale deservedly taking all three points as the were hungrier and better than the Albert on the day.

The only Albert who can take anything from the game was Craig Smith in the Albert goal the rest were shocking a lack of desire and will to win was sadly missing.

A big shout to the Vale their playing surface was immaculate.
