Together with Edinburgh City last month and the previous clubs, that brings the LL up to 10 of 14 by my reckoning and HL to 17 of 18 (it says that Fort William has also got theirs), with 2/3 of a year to go until next summer. Being really thick here, but how come Ibrox is in the top group if you say Spartans has a higher licence? And what is wrong with Tynecastle? Interesting to see who also applied but failed this time (according to the Border Telegraph) - Vale (£8K needed), Edin Uni, Coldstream, HRA. HibeeJibee Posted October 9, 2014 Author Share Posted October 9, 2014 In simple terms, licensing is comprised of 3 aspects, the headings in the spreadsheet: * Ground * First-Team * Legal, Admin, Finance & Codes (i.e. of Conduct) Spartans have a Bronze in all 3 therefore receive a Bronze licence. Rangers unsurprisingly got Gold in the first 2 including Ibrox - but again probably unsurprisingly Entry in the last (I'm guessing owing to recent financial issues!!) therefore can only receive an Entry licence. As you say, interesting only a Bronze was given to Tynecastle. That said it is aging, cramped, and has previously struggled over UEFA requirements and its Main Stadium roof, IIRC. EDIT: I imagine a number of clubs may not bother trying a higher category in 1 unless they can get it in all 3, afterall, what would be the point. As a proportion, you could say LL seems on track. It started with 3 licensed clubs, and has added 7 more over the first 16 months, so if things continue you might expect 3 or 4 more over the remaining 8 months. And there are 4 clubs without licenses - Edinburgh Uni, Stirling Uni, Vale and BSCG. Of those the first 2 are surely OK on the stadium front given Edinburgh's new stadium and Stirling's use of Forthbank. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Having seen the many many hours, if not days, of bloody hard work our own committee put into getting a licence it's not something to be taken lightly. They've probably got a bigger net bank balance than Rangers as well. Be alright don't think Hearts or Rangers will want to join the lowland league... Or that Netherdale should be rejected for being a dual-purpose surface...? Meadowbank has hosted SFL football before. Gala is unusual - but the Borders only 3G pitch surely must accomodate rugby, and the yellows don't affect the "viewing experience", IMO. It's happily hosted Scottish Cup ties. Oh dear, closet Currant upset by a small home truth? The likes of Tams Bird have got short memories & a reminder was merited. As we are now, so once was Edinburgh City & Gretna (& for that matter Peebles Rovers in the EOS, where a phoenix club would have had to start from instead if it wanted to regain its SPFL place) - as they are now, so almost were we.
