Looking at the squad no Adam and no McCormack looks like no Bardsley to and no Forrest some injured some are not

Got guys like Boyd and Arfield playing every week in the EPL to who are not in Phillips to who was dropped on Satarday

Is it safe to say that we have strength in depth or are we still lacking defenders at a good level?

Apart from Hutton and Robertson that are playing in the top flight each week?

Goalkeepers we already know we have plenty.

We have a few good RBs and at LB we have about 4 or 5 that could do a job. CBs we don't have much of, but I wouldn't say it is an issue. In Midfield and going forward we are fine though.

With no what you could world class players, I think we have a decent enough depth in the squad averaging out pretty well in the squad, but a few positions could be filled out with a better class of player eventually coming through the ranks in the future.

I do wish we could produce a couple of outstanding players up at the front of the team giving the opposition something to think about should they press us at the back with us counter attacking at speed and with deadly efficiency. :(

I think we have a pretty good pot of players and with majority playing in the English top leagues. With no Adam, McCormack, Bardsley, Mulgrew and Snodgrass due to injury I think it shows we do have a solid squad and plenty of good players to choose from.

I do agree the one area of concern is center half but both Hanley and Russell have done well under Strachan. All we really need is one or two younger center halves to move through in next couple of years and we'll see that area improve. To be honest seeing players like Wilson and McManus not fulfill their potential is disappointing however to see talent in the final third come through and some great midfield depth is great as for years we've struggled to have consistency especially in forward options.

I am really impressed with Robertson. I think he'll be a great player for Hull and Scotland. Looking forward to seeing him improve and get more experience. Also good to see Hutton back playing week in and out.

We have good depth especially in midfield. When Darren fletcher, Mcarthur, dorrans aren't getting a start you can see that.

Goalkeeper has good depth.

Full back is better than it has been in recent years. Robertson and hutton are stick on starters atm but Bardsley can play both LB and RB and so can whitaker.

Centre back is the most concerning area. With Hanley out, we're struggling a bit.

We have plenty of goalscoring strikers (at least for their club sides) Martin, Mccormack and Rhodes all got 20 plus i the championship last year and 2 cant get near the national side

McManus basically did fulfill his potential - he spent a number of years playing at the highest level his limited talent allowed him to. The fact he's now turning in mediocre performances for Motherwell at the age of 32 shouldn't take away from that.

I think we're still another 4-6 years away from having a really strong team.

Right now we have decent strength in depth but no real outstanding players. Wales have Bale and Ramsey - we simply don't have anyone close to that level at the moment.

All things going well, Souttar, Gauld, Macleod, Henderson, McGregor, Jack, Wighton, May, Harper, Feruz (ha!), Watt (ha!+1), Grimmer, Cardwell, King, Christie etc. will all start giving Strachan something to think about. Naturally, most of these will end up as average Championship players (as recent history suggests we're good at creating!) but the hope has to be that some kick on further and our current u17s can produce even better prospects.

We have a few youngsters worth keeping an eye on - namely St Clair and Sammut (both Chelsea) alongside Gilmour (Arsenal) and Laws (Fortuna Dusseldorf) could be something special - but asides from the latter, the danger is they end up opting for England as has happened with Gallacher and a few others lately.

At 32 he should be leading the Scotland team out and be our #1 center half. I think you make my point for me. His limited talent is probably correct and that to me is disappointing as many expected him to do better.

I still think the Scotland "B" international games should make a comeback give the guys on the fringe a chance to prove themselves with the likes of gauld johnny russell stevie may etc and maybe look at other CB's that could step in and do the job
