Livingston v Stranraer

A national semi-final is not to be sniffed at and I would expect that Ginge will have the guys geed-up for this one.

Based on yesterday I worry slightly about our defence as Stenny didn't really look like scoring but for our very early Christmas gifts.

But we have recent cup form to throw into the equation with wins in the last year or so over Ross County, Falkirk and Dumbarton (twice) from higher leagues, a draw against Inverness, and very decent displays against County (again), Hibs and Inverness in the replay. So our guys can upset the odds against clubs from upstairs.

Possibly the worst draw we could have got in the semis, considering both prospect of progression and monetary reward, and I have a doubt that we won't bring that many fans given the timing and the fact that the tie is live on BBC Teuchter, but still hoping we get it right on the day and we do have the manager and players to do the business if Livi aren't fully on their mettle.

Hey great - somewhere to talk about football with football fans rather than all the crud going on post rangers match.

Has anyone heard how Craig Sives is coming along; we're rally looking very thin at the back now. Hopefully our forward line will get a bit more space than they had been previously and, with the shakeness of our defence, should lead to an open game.

Sives was discharged from hospital on Saturday night, should (hopefully) be okay to play on Sunday.

Mensing played the first half against Alloa in the development match so he should be back soon too.

Buzzing for this one, should be a great occasion. My worry is the injury list. With Pettigrew and Robertson almost certainly out, could we play Gallagher at his old position of full back, since we have a few other options in midfield?

Yep a welcome break from our league campaign after 3 straight defeats against Raith, Hearts and Sevco.

Sives should be back, though tbh I'd have preferred Talbot in at CB with Dycey and having Rutherford at LB. Sives and Dycey look a bit shaky together.

Admission for Livingston v Stranraer on Sunday: £15 adult, £10 concessions, £5 kids. Saw this on Twitter.

Get the excuses in early. An under strength Stranraer will find it tough. No Scott Robertson, Craig Pettigrew or Steven Bell. Hope Willie Gibson makes it in time. Or its 4 definite starters missing.

Agree with you there, LF. Thought Talbot was solid against Rangers on Saturday and Rutherford looked impressive - makes his omission against Hearts a few weeks back look even more odd. In saying that, I thought Sives going off changed the game in a way, having Kyle in the midfield breaking up the play meaning Keaghan could play further up, and looked like it was working well. Hopefully we can get a good win here because the last few results have been disappointing to say the least, particularly the Raith and Hearts games.

Good to hear so many Stranraer fans are making the trip up, should make for a decent atmosphere. I can safely predict that this game will be nothing like our last meeting, though.

That would be my choice. Unfortunately I think Ginge will disagree.

If Wullie Gibson makes it and Stranraer's defence cuts out the Schoolboy Comic Capers at the back then even a patched -up 'Raer have a good chance, on the other hand if not :bairn

Take Gal out of midfield and you take out a hell of a lot of workrate though Think we may start 5 in midfield, who will fill in at right back, is open to debate but im sure worked on it Tuesday, Thursday so everyone will know what they are doing.

Wonder if we'll go back to the 4-2-3-1 we've played most of the season or stick with the 5-3-2 we played against Sevco.

Jamieson

Fordyce - Sives* - Talbot

Ky.Jacobs Rutherford

Ke.Jacobs - O'Brien - Robertson

Hippolyte - White

*Assuming Sives is okay to play, if Mensing is fit I wouldn't have a problem with playing there.

Or we could go with:

Jamieson

Ky.Jacobs - Fordyce - Sives - Talbot

O'Brien - Ke.Jacobs

McKenna - Robertson - Glen

White

Again assuming Sives is fit. Still gives us the Hippo to bring on in the second half against a tiring defence.

Looking forward to this one, hopefully we can get to the final and win our first game since about this time last month, and hopefully we can do it in the 90 minutes. Would like the same scoreline as the last time we played but somehow can't see it...
