Faddy signs for Saint Johnstone

Good to see that he has found a club at last with the injuries till the end of the season

Hope he proves he is over them and comes back on fire and bangs the goals away

Only needs to look at Boyd when he was at Kilmarnock who got fit and back in the picture with Scotland

And the passing football that they play might just suite his style of play trying to create and attack

Its good that he has never turned his back on his nation do not think that he ever would

We might have better options kicking around just now though but injury or suspension or loss of team places we could send a SOS

Have to say he was our main man for years and was that maverick spark we relied on to create something out of nothing

Sometimes it never happened for him but every player can say the same who had bad games yet still are part of our squad

Another in a long(stupid) list that Dryhorce would call up.

You do not quite get what SOS means do you

What about someone making a post of Miller returning?

Give me a fit match sharp Faddy over him any time if we were short

Even super Cooper made a come back for Scotland at 36 James is 31

If the winger from Celtic (left footed chap, can't remember his name) can be called up off the back of 4 decent games then McFadden can earn a recall.

I'm delighted that he's be playing centrally for St Johnstone as he's wasted on the wing.

How's Motherwell fairing without the boy wonder this season ?

Even in his prime I'm not sure McFadden is much of a Strachan type of player. WGS likes every player in his team fit and to work like trojans not exactly McFadden hallmarks. I think we can safely say barring any sympathy type of caps to make 50 by way of a friendly that Faddy will not be pulling on a Scotland jersey again.

Was going to say, if Rhodes isn't getting a look in with Strachan then McFadden definitely won't.

This is frustrating, but then it's down to those players to raise their game to show they can be an asset to a Strachan team. I wouldn't rule out seeing him getting a call up re Kris Boyd, but he'd have to have a season similar to Boyd or Stevie May last season, which might be asking too much of a 31 year old who has had 3-4 years of injury and mediocre form.

WGS is his own precedent here, pretty sure in the late eighties when he was around 32, he was initially punted/stopped being selected for squads by Andy Roxburgh therefore missing out on the 90 World Cup but was then selected again around '92ish, when he was in his mid thirties and then gained another half dozen or so caps before retiring after his 50th appearance!!!

Mind Henry before the first France game when asked about the Scotland players he know he said Faddy and Bazza were world class

good going for a guy from Springburn that I used to kick a ball around with him when he was a teenager like so many in Balornock East

Proud of what he has done in the game and he can rightly look back when its over and know he gave it his best shot

Just a shame he never made any any major finals with us to show the world what he could do when at his peak

Would have loved to see him do some Archie Gemmill type wonder goal with the world watching on

Good luck to him on the come back and I agree who says he cant return if he has a good year injury free?

Do we have another guy coming through of his ilk of almost continental skill?

Always said would have loved to see him play in Italy were he gets the time on the ball

I would love to see him back even just for a couple of sub appearances just to get 50 caps because I am a sentimental old c**t plus I would rather the last image of him in a Scotland shirt wasn't being subbed by bawjaws levein.

But sadly I think he is finished. Left us some great memories.
