Stirling Albion v Dunfermline Athletic

Recommended Posts

The Pars go into this game on the back of a spectacular Peterhead implosion when they got 3 red cards.

Coincidentally the last time we played the Albion there was also 3 red cards in that match, 2 for Albion and 1 for Gary Mason, although in that instance the cards were far more dubious.

On paper it looks like it should be a Pars win but in recent years Stirling have been a bit of a bogey team for us at Forthbank including a game in our First Division title winning season in which we had something like 26 shots on goal and the final score was 1-1. Stirling being one of only 4 teams to take points off The Pars in our run in towards the title after our capitulation at home to Morton (Dundee, Partick Thistle and Ross County being the others).

I think Forbes was a good addition to the team - really calm figure in midfield who helps us hold our shape, dictates tempo, can shoot from distance. He is Hubby mk2 in that he's bound to have some people thinking he's lazy as he doesn't have that manic style of wee guys like Falky and Geggan. He seems to be really good with the young lads in the team too - always talking to them and being a cool head. Fully match (ie getting a run of games) fit he could be a hugely important player for us.

We were not exactly sparkling on Saturday but we did what had to be done, with both teams admitting it was more like a training exercise in the second half (with added aggro). When Moffat and Ugwu did combine they produced a really good goal. Good to see Andy Stirling get a run out too.

Four wins from the last five league games is the best tally in the league so we should maybe cut them a bit of slack and be confident we can dig out a win one way or another.

2nd bottom vs 2nd top

worst defence in League 1 vs best defence in League 1

Hopefully another confidence boosting victory heading into three big matches for us (vs Ayr away then Forfar and Morton at home).

Would like to see Stirling get a start here as he looked good on Saturday - a little too eager to have a shot at times but I put that down to trying to impress the fans after missing so many games at the start of the season. If Geggs is fit, I'd put him on the bench. No point changing a winning team, imo. Forbes was excellent on vs Peterhead, even before they had 3 men sent off, and deserves to retain his place imo.

Stirling 1-4 Dunfermline is my prediction.

COYP!! :D:)

Given the Albion`s home record and our start in League 1 so far I feel that you are quite right to expect Dunfermline to win this one but stranger things have happened.

Our problem is our defence and if we can keep it tight in the first half, I e Not concede 2 goals then the Albion may give you a game of it yet.

We have got to get the monkey off our backs and start winning at home and this Saturday could be just the day to do it in front of a decent crowd at Forthbank. However that all depends on our defence keeping it tight at the back.

My prediction Stirling Albion 1 Dunfermline Ath 1 Fingers crossed for this one :)

Remember when Kevin Fucking Harper scored a hat-trick at Forthbank?

That 1-1 draw in the title winning season folk are alluding to, if we would have won that, wouldn't we have been way out of sight and a win against Raith was not an absolute must? Might be just getting mixed up there though...

Won't be at this one. Would rather spend my hard earned pennies on being another year older than watch The Pars tbh. Should be looking to win. No needless changes to the squad please Mr Jefferies, ta.

Looking forward to this. Stirling is highly convenient for me and the city centre has a good selection of pubs for a pre-match pint if one so chooses. Only seen us lose there once - the infamous 0-3 debacle under Stephen Kenny - so hopefully we won't see any repeat of that.

The Albion have picked up some notable results so far in winning at Stenny and drawing with Forfar so this won't be a walk in the park for the players. If we play as we can then we should have too much for them, but our away form needs to improve.

Andy Stirling on from the start please.
