Banterous
When you think of all the great bands; JAMC and Primal Scream to name two, why do Belle and Sebastian exist? I f**king hate them and the wife inflicted that awful "God Help the Girl" mess on me a while ago. Avoid that btw..... It's their twee pop sh**e that irritates but much more is that "quirky" Stuart Murdoch song writing that annoys me. You can tell that he had a middle class West End upbringing because it's all safe and nice and f**king awful. That said Isobel Campbell's first album with Mark Lanegan is brilliant. If you like them, good luck to you. I hope you're ok though.....
paranoid android
I don't hate them. I can't be bothered with their bed-wetting lame student bedsit pish, and I can't see the appeal at all, but I don't think I actually hate them.
Stevie Aitken's Love Child
Boy with the Arab Strap is one of the anthems of my late teens/early twenties clubbing time. For that reason alone, they're guid c***s.
ginge123
Two immense albums with Boy with the Arab Strap and If You're Feeling Sinister, one very good debut album with Tigermilk and the rest can be a bit hit or miss. Saw them at the Corn Exchange last month and they were rotten though. I thought the film was tolerable though considering I can't stand musicals. placidcasual
Dear Catastrophe Waitress is a good album. Anyone who hates the first song on it, Step Into My Office Baby, is quite clearly deaf and/or stupid.
Ira Gaines
I like them a bit. I'm a fan of that "twee" style of things though.

a1974h
The boy with the Arab strap is great album, not so much Friday night going out but the Sunday afternoon coming down. Dirty dream number two is a great wee tune. Isobel Campbell solo stuff is also good. Not listened to neither for years like. Decent enough band certainly not embarrassed that they are scottish. Irrelevant They should be more embarrassed at the twangy, sacharine twee pop p**h they produce. If you want to understand this watch the video of GHTG; that "Monday Morning" p**h with all the characters in Stuart's story. What a load of w**k. When I hear Teenage Fanclub and My Bloody Valentine I'm ashamed that this is classed as fkg music!!!

Shengus Khan
Good band IMO. Decent tap along wee tunes that put a spring in your step. Teenage Fanclub are the daddy of Scottish bands though.
