Livi v Rovers

Recommended Posts

Well...this is the first of the four teams that we really should be matching in quality and should be aiming to finish above to make any improvement on last season..

We have beaten the 3 part time sides fairly comfortably and we have lost to the two top teams( Rangers and Hearts) very comfortably as well.

Now come the games that we really should be judging the team and manager on to see how far they have came after the second half of last season..

Livi will be full of confidence after yesterday's result but we have seen that we have a team that are capable of bouncing back really well with the Dumbarton performance after the Pars game and the Cowden performance after the Dundee game.

We have a terrible record against Livingston which is the only downfall however for the first time in years, we have pace in our side up front in Stewart and Anderson. We have creativity with set pieces with Conroy's free kicks and his corners as well. We also have aerial ability in Anderson, Elliot and Scott.

Laidlaw

Thomson Watson Perry Mckeown

Anderson Moon Fox Conroy

Elliot Stewart

On the bench we will also have players that can cause problems later on in the game with Vaughn, Callachan, Nade and Scott. It's a strong team and I really hope we can take the 3 points. It'll be a close game nonetheless.

I'll go for 1-2 to the mighty Raith with Conroy getting a goal with a free kick more than likely again. And Elliot notching the second, proving that he can be our goalscorer that we've really been lacking with him pretty much side-lined due to injury or playing with injury since December.

Looking forward to this game, chance to go 4th or even 3rd depending on the QoS v Hibs result.

Only big player we're missing is Gallagher, but our defence is still looking a lot better than last season and DJ is the best keeper we've had in years. White is showing he can easily play at this level and score goals if he gets a sniff inside the box, just need to make sure we give him the service.

I'd take any kind of win in this game, mon the Lions.

Well I said I would give Murray the first round of fixtures, expecting us to beat Cowdung/Dumbarton/Alloa with defeats by Hearts & Gers which has now happened ... However like said, its these games that will make or break him ....

I'm really not sure how this will go, Livi have had some nice big home wins lately but every 4-0 defeat we have had we ended up bouncing back to win the following match, unfortunately though personally I'm going to be siding with a home win or a tight draw ... Dont think we will do to well the next 4 matches !

Frist game in the league where we're up against a team you'd either hope we'd beat or expect us to lose. The games against Livingston, Falkirk and Queens are the ones which will define how we progress this season. The problem so far has been that we're playing fine against the part time teams, before we're played off the park against the likes of Rangers, Hearts and Dundee.

Hopefully, we'll see a Rovers win. Hopefully Nade is progressing well enough that he can make a return. I'd be inclined to see Stewart and Vaughan up top again. Also, we need to get Anderson back in on the wing. Jimmy Scott hasn't been consistent enough (especially when we've thrown him out wide), while Liam Fox has played a bit better after a poor start to the season.

Fox up against Keaghan will be his worst nightmare, and if he's still on the park when Hippolyte comes on it will be painful to watch for him.

Written in italics for dramatic effect.

Livingston usually pump us. If we are anywhere near as ineffective against Livi as we were against Hearts and Rangers, normal service will continue.

As nice a way as possible to say he's been absolutely horseshit. I can't think of a single thing he's given us this season, even in the games we've won. I thought it was absolutely bizarre Livingston released him in the summer - beginning to see exactly why.

Glad John McGlynn is doing a good job at Livi, no surprises at all mind you, he was exceptionally harshly treated at Hearts. I can't say I see us winning given our record at Almondvale but something has to give eventually.

Personally would be looking to bring Elliot and Anderson back into the side. Would probably drop Stewart rather than Vaughan but appreciate I'll be in the minority on that one. Bringing Anderson in is absolutely imperative, not playing him on Friday was probably the worst decision Grant Murray has made as manager of Raith Rovers. At home to a side much, much better than we are, so he plays with absolutely no players capable of either holding the ball up or carrying the ball forward. Unforgivable.

A draw would be a decent result. Enough to keep the knives away? Probably not. But it wouldn't be a bad result at all.

I'd take a point right now. I agree that Murray should have started Anderson and possibly even Elliot against Rangers. A wee bit more strength up front and some directness on the wing would have maybe caused them a problem or two. Never mind.

I'd also like to see McGurn start. It would hopefully give the team and the fans a wee boost if he was given the nod over Laidlaw. Laidlaw did well against Rangers but feel McGurn would be the better choice.

Will be interesting to see if McKay starts from the bench or is introduced to the starting line up also..I'd like to see him start, again to give us a freshen up.

McGurn

Thompson

McKeown

Perry

Watson

Anderson

Scott

Moon

McKay

Vaughan

Elliot

Subs: Laidlaw, Stewart , fox, Ellis, Nade (if fit enough) Callachan, Bates.

1-1 but would love a sneaky 2-1 to the Rovers.

Is Conroy injured? If not, what has he done to deserve to be dropped? He's easily been one of our, if not, our best performer this season..?

He must've forgotten Conroy. There are conflicting stories as to McGurn's fitness but if he's fit I'd get him back in the side.

Will gary glen be playing??

More than likely, he's been excellent despite not scoring, as expected he's not going to score many at all but his link up play has been fantastic, he brings in our midfield and I think the fact that White and Hippolyte have settled in so well and have scored a few between them is down to the unselfish play by Glen.

As for the game I look to this as a must win game especially looking at our next 3 or 4 fixtures, it has been a good start for us minus the disapointing defeat at Dumbarton although we didn't play badly and on another day could've won the game, we have goals going forward and look a lot better at the back although missing Gallacher is huge as he's been a rock and an organiser.

I'm looking for a win from this one but another game avoiding defeat wouldn't be all bad and it's another point away from the bottom 2 positions.

Ah, but will he be playing for us or Raith?
