Scary Bear
AYE? AYE? WELL WHY DON'T YOU FUCK OFF? You just know that's what's going on in the heads of some of the punters during the TV debates.
DeeTillEhDeh
Don't you think it might be difficult to find a chair who would be completely impartial? I'll do it.
DeeTillEhDeh
Can Scotchmist and BP be on the No side. Ta. Both Scothmist and Scotchmist are banned.
SodjesSixteenIncher
So here's the idea. We'll set aside a time of maybe an hour and a half or two hours one night before the referendum, where three pro-independence and anti-independence posters debate the key issues of the referendum, with a curator in the middle asking the questions. It'll be in the same style as the recent STV one, three one on one discussions and a group chat at the end (maybe no starting and closing speeches right enough). The audience aren't allowed to barge in but they can PM the curator with questions, which he can bring up at designated times. Before then, all that's needed is to set a time and to find the seven people involved, for example I would imagine VikingTon, SodjesSixteenIncher and one of either Confidemus or Casual Bystander would seem like likely candidates. As a staunch no voter, I'd like RedRob72 to represent the no side. Personally, I think VT and H-B going head to head in an "official" debate could be something we could sell the rights for. I'd get involved just with text. I'm banned from owning or operating a webcam.
SodjesSixteenIncher
Plus I can't function in a debating arena without using these ^^^
Confidemus
I'll do it. You're about as impartial as a very partisan, partial thing.

Thistle_do_nicely
Can we bring back Swampy for this? My Yes "dream team" would be Swampy, vikingTon and as mentioned above Thumper. They'd be tough to beat, and they'd do it in style.
Well Well
What about that Reynard chap for Curator he always seemed like a balanced bloke

pandarilla
The curator is clearly the key to all this - the suggestions of AdLib and Reynard are quite clearly made by lunatics.

MuckleMoo
Ach, I quite liked Reynard. The man is clearly batshit mental but he was always able to deliver his put downs with a certain amount of panache.

This is the second post of yours I've replied to today. Don't worry, I don't want to winch you. This is an excellent idea and I'd love to see it working in practice. However, it will only need a curator if c***s are going to make an exhibition of themselves. For those of us who actually speak English it needs a chairman/arbiter/mediator. Seeing as I am clearly the most reasonable person on the board and have no skin in the game I am happy to volunteer.
DeeTillEhDeh
You're about as impartial as a very partisan, partial thing.Actually when doing this sort of thing I am. I used to be a hockey umpire years ago - my team hated me umpiring their games because I was fair to the point of edging towards the opposition. Ira Gaines
The Yes side would provide a good laugh in this. As long as vikingTon is banned from it to stop it descending into tedious 'catchphrases' and bullshit. I wasn't really looking for a reply which basically amounted to you having a bitchfit over someone who slags you constantly. As tedious as I find the likes of Confi and VT at times on here, they mix that with actual good discussion and decent points. Which is more than can be said for many of the more prominent No posters on here. Would be good to see folk like Tubbs on that side who, even though I disagree with 100%, are actually honest in their posting. If folk like Mr Bairn, HB and Ad Lib wind up on the No side ( and yes, Ad Lib is a No ), then f**k it.
