nelsjfc
Thought I would start a new thread to discuss the team and the match rather than travel etc. Think we will see Strachan stick with what he knows in terms off line ups. Only question marks for me is who partners Fletcher in the middle and one, possibly two, of the attacking midfield roles. Mcgregor Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson Fletcher Mulgrew Bannan Maloney Anya Naismith You could make a case for McArthur or Morrison with Fletcher but I think he'll go for Mulgrew for more defensive cover. Similarly there's competition in the attacking midfield roles, but think Anya and Bannan are safe shouts for the wide roles given previous performances. Middle is more difficult with a few different options including forsaking a number 10 type role altogether. Pretty sure, and hope, he doesn't move naismith deeper. Gordopolis
Team looks good. The three behind Naismith are pacy but don't offer any physical edge (the opposite of Snodgrass!) So maybe Morrison might get the nod over Maloney as he's a bit harder to nudge off the ball?
Fotbawmad
I predict we'll get a whole load of how badly are we gonna lose talk. Only for it to end in talk of glorious and agonizing defeat.
JakeSAFC
I'm confident we won't get pumped, but we'll still get beat. I'm going for 2-0 Germany
DAFC
First twenty mins or so are crucial. We need good ball retention. I can't see us getting gubbed either. Reckon 0-2 Germany but hard fought.
Big Easy
Morrison is a guaranteed starter, one of the first names on the team sheet.
AMMjag
I can't remember too many times at all when Mulgrew has let us down, but the idea of having a natural midfielder in McArthur who can break up play appeals far more to me. Centre half I'd put Martin there just ahead of Greer, but I wouldn't be fussed either way. I just think Martin/Hanley is a partnership that can last us the whole campaign and the more the play together the more stable we ought to be there. I'd like to see a lot more discipline from Hanley though for this particular game, too often he seems to take liberties when in possession and also seems liable to sacrificing his position to go into overly optimistic tackles. I'm confident we'll see him become a much more rounded player come the end of this campaign though. The rest of the team is easy enough, but I'd like to see Anya switching between wings as he's the only real wide outlet in the team if Bannan plays the other side. I think he might actually find a bit of joy at times on the night as full back was a bit of a problem for Germany in the World Cup until they played Lahm in his correct position, and he's one of their most influential players who's now completely out of the picture. I've always had a great feeling about Strachan and this campaign, but I think our best results will come at home. 2-0 home win, the second coming late on. Stevie Aitken's Love Child
Full back is absolutely where we need to attack the Germans. Chances are their full backs on Sunday will be Kevin Großkreutz - naturally a midfielder - and Erik Durm, who only has one cap and is not all that experienced. We need to get Anya running at either one of them, just a shame that Snodgrass is out as I think he would have bee vital in this game. Going to be quite a few changes in the Germany side for this campaign, and even more for this game as they will be missing their new skipper Schweinsteiger, Sami Khedira and potentially Mats Hummels, who missed Dortmund's first game of the season with injury. They should of course still have enough quality to see us off, but as above, I don't see it being a hammering, something alone the lines of 2-0 or 2-1. callum-ayr
Scotland +2 at 6/4 is where I see some money being made. Scotland -1 at 75/1....
BigTidy
Morrison is a guaranteed starter, one of the first names on the team sheet. He's been injured though. Only came off the bench for WBA at the weekend. McArthur has been getting talked up in the press conferences, I think he'll start. Bannan and Maloney most likely due to their ball retention and Anya for his pace. Martin/Greer and McGregor/Marshall could go either way. McGregor Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson Fletcher McArthur Bannan Maloney Anya Naismith Likely to see S Fletcher and Mulgrew off the bench at some point. M0rtonfc
I wouldn't be surprised if Strachan started with a 4-5-1 formation due to the nature of this game.... McGregor Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson Burke/Bannan Mulgrew Fletcher McArthur Anya Naismith I hope he goes with the formation and team that so many have mentioned before, the 3 behind Naismith is exciting and will create at least a few chances! bobby carlos
Mcgregor Hutton Martin Hanley Robertson 3 centres MacArthur Fletcher Mulgrew 2 wide midfielders Anya Bannan Naismith Just hoping to keep it as tight as possible with Anya being the most supporting with Mulgrew covering him if we get caught out, and sneak a 1-0 win from a set play.....
