Diving in the juniors

Just wondering peoples thoughts on whether or not we have a problem with players diving in the juniors, seems to be a lot of action taken in the seniors to try and stamp it out, should we also do this...

After his theatrics in the Scottish Junior Cup final at Rugby Park, wasn't really surprised to watch the boy Ross Robertson booked again yesterday for diving, is this something he has learned in the seniors or has his manager deliberately told him to do this?

Tommy Coyne at Linlithgow Rose is the best diver in the East.

Gribben of Bo"Ness is ten times worse. he does dive with no contact which is something I can't recall Coyne doing.

I tell you though Coyne is the best penalty kick taker in the East

I hope other junior refs see that video, because it was a very smartly executed dive. When I saw it live I thought there had been no contact at all - but there was contact. Kilbirnie centre half (Scott Gair) clearly pulls out of the challenge, but Robertson hangs his right leg miles out to the side to catch Gair's leg and then goes down like a sack of spuds. Full marks to the ref for spotting it, because if he had been conned and given a pen, then Gair would have got a second yellow as well.

I was standing beside a group of Hurlford fans, and all of them gave their own player abuse for diving - well done guys. Maybe that's what will stop divers - if their own fans get on their back for it and make it clear they don't want to see it, like the Hurlford lads did on Saturday.

sometimes the only way to get a penalty or a foul is to go to ground.

I think far too much is made of diving in this country, we most certainly are not the worst.

for me, diving is not any more or less cheating than all the grappling that goes on at every single corner and free kick.

A lot of what folk call dives is more flinching cos a dirty big centre half is about to boot ye. Then when he doesn't you look like a phanny cos ye shat it and tried to get out the road. Maybe. Haha

Seen it creeping in but what I've noticed is there's no tolerance for it at our level and know of managers who do not accept it from there players!

Best example I saw of this was when Dave Griffiths managed us. A player went on as sub, dived outrageously looking for a foul and Griffiths immediately subbed him. He'd been on the pitch about five minutes.
