Thought we'd be in for a tough game against Beith today, and so it proved for the first 45 minutes when they oevrturned a 2 goal lead to go in level at the break.

Talbot score 6 in the second half and it was a pure joy to watch.

Graham Wilson waded in with 5 goals, bringing his competitive tally this season to 15 in 7 games so far. I have to say, I reckon it's the finest display of traditional number 9 play I've seen in 23 years at Talbot, and it'll take a good defence to keep him quiet this season, and his interplay with Gormley is superb (no slouch himself with 8 goals as well so far)

Beith's heads went down at 4-2 plus a sending off, but they should never have conceded 8. Decent going forward but woefully inadequate at the back today. Could be a long season for them if they don't shore up their defence?

I thought 8-2 flattered talbot today as at 2-2 and 3-2 we were right in it until we got nicky Docherty harshly sent off right in front of the talbot dugout and that a yellow card would have been ample but when an entire bench invade the pitch then the ref always tends to over react.

The red card changed the whole game as wee went gung-ho at 2-0 to talbot In terms of formation which worked really well but with that formation and down to ten men then it was always going to turn into a doing as we went so attack minded it was unreal .

Talbot got their usual penalty at the social club end ( which I predicted at half time ) and that along with the red card and our attacking formation contributed to an embarrising score line for us but one I felt was a bit cruel.

Just before Docherty saw red wee joe was fouled twice in the left wing area only for the man in charge to totally ignore it. Guy was inept.

Don't think you can talk about anyone's bench . Your managers antics are an absolute disgrace . Surprised it took so long for him to be sent off and if thats your first choice defence then it will be a short stay in the top league

No it wasn't our first choice defence.

It was a makeshift makeshift defence due to injuries and that turned into a further makeshift defence after going down to ten men.

We still have lots to address of course but I really hate any bench invading a park in getting a boy sent off.

Only one bench was guilty of that today .

I agree with much of what Hertha said, when the Beith no 4 went off injured Beith changed their formation and having clawed it back to 2-2 and being the only team looking like scoring thinks were looking good when they scored the penalty to square things.

The Talbot penalty was (along with the later red card) a game changer. The guy walked for a challenge that was no worse that the two or three before that which saw a number of Beith players yellow carded in a short period of time, felt the guy paid the penalty for his colleagues wracking up the yellow cards.

I felt there was nowhere near 6 goals between the teams and Beith look a far superior side to Cumnock and at about the same level as Glenafton these being the 3 Super league sides we have played so far. Beith should survive life in the Super League with plenty to spare considering they lost a key defender to injury and then had a man sent off this afternoon, they had loads of goal scoring chances in the game. Sometimes it is just not your day!

Well you never saw the red card.

I admit I didn't see the talbot bench on the pitch but if so they had a right to be angry with the tackle.

Beith's unstripped players were in front of me and one of them admited it was knee high.

You think knee high tackles are OK but people coming on a football field is a disgrace. OK then.

As you know Talbot games are never filmed and I don't think Beith's are so there will be no video

It takes a lot to get Tucker animated, and he was still at it 3 or 4 minutes after the tackle indicating to the Beith bench exactly what he thought of it.

Beith usually take points off us at Beechwood early season - think they've done so the last 3 visits? At half time we all thought it would be a really close second half after their spirited fight back. It is unusual to see so many goalscoring chances actually come to fruition but the second half today was just that.

Knee high tackles get a red card every day of the week

got to agree with your comment, however that wasn't a true reflection of the red card I was close to the incident and it was never a red card,I like when fans can watch a game without blinkers and auchinleck for all the accolades that they deserve in the junior game have a support that want every free kick and want every decision, they should enjoy the success and be more humble at times, ref was poor and maybe the margin of victory flatters talbot but they certainly deserved the win.

Beith were well in the game at 3-2 I agree. IMO Beith should have held their shape and took a 3-2 or 4-2 defeat. Instead they lost their discipline (position wise) and took a beating.

The worst decision of the afternoon was one that favoured Beith when they got their corner that led to the penalty. The ball was not within one of foot of going out for a corner, the Talbot player clearly kicked it out for a throw in.

Beith took a beating and all we hear about is the referee. The reason it ended 8-2 was Beith players losing their discipline and tactical mismanagement not refereeing decisions.

Deflection tactics posssibly

I thought the red card was a bit harsh, having said that Beith's discipline had collapsed by that point. Their no 8 was very lucky not to walk for a reckless studs up challenge on Peewee; luckily big Hyslop managed to walk away from it after treatment.

Like another poster said the Beith red card was probably cumulative. The ref had just seen Hyslop scythed down and immediately before no 11 got his marching orders there was another very late, nowhere near the ball tackle.

I thought our front two were outstanding today. Wilson & Gormley gave Beith's central defence the run around. The big no. 5 was eventually penalised for hanging onto Gormz shirt but he'd been at it all game.

Yes, the scoreline definitely flattered Talbot but this is one occasion where every goal really does count. In the cup it matters not a jot how many you win or lose by, it is only the result that counts. In the league, goal difference can a difference & today's result won't have done Talbot's any harm.

The ref gave a straight red though. He must have seen something that warranted that? I couldn't see from the top of the stand, but there were some juicy tackles going in all around at that time.

Sending off apart, and Wilson's tremendous showing at number 9, what about Gordon Pope's goal? The Beith defence backed off, and from fully 30 yards he let fly....whoooosh into the top corner. Doubt I'll see a sweeter struck shot all season. Likewise Milliken's goal, number 8, again the Beith defence backed off and let him in for a relatively easy goal.

Beith's approach play at times in the first half was exemplary, nice quick passing on the break and going in level at half time was fully warranted. Second half though was Talbot at their very, very, best.

8-2 may have flattered talbot in the end but 2-2 flattered beith at half time.bot were strolling at 2-0 then a defensive mix up for beith`s first (by christ he struck it well) then a hand ball pen, made it 2-2.milliken should have scored after 15 min, we could have been up 3-0 at half time!

just sayin.

That's handy considering how many (often inexplicable) decisions are awarded in Talbot's favour.

It's true, that's why we're so successful...nothing to do with the team, manager, playing surface etc. ;)
