So this looks to be the last big live debate on TV before the referendum, which takes place next week in Edinburgh

STV have announced they are to stage a second Scottish independence referendum debate in Edinburgh on 2 September.

The debate will feature three-person panels representing the ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ campaigns, who will discuss some of the key issues in the campaign in front of an audience of around 350 people at the Assembly Rooms in Edinburgh.

Nothing official on who will make up the panels on either side although the Yes panel is rumoured to be Nicola Sturgeon, Humza Yousaf and Elaine C Smith??

I prefer three person panels to one-on-ones, mostly because both campaigns are broad rainbow coalitions. I'd prefer to see one SNP (Sturgeon or Yousaf), one from the Greens/Socialists (Patrick Harvie maybe) and a non-party political person (Elaine C Smith)

On the No side I'd have one from Westminster (Jim Murphy for me), one from Holyrood (Ruth Davidson) and I'd love to try and get JK Rowling as the non-party political person.

Partly surprised that Yes have agreed to it given the apparent disaster that the 2nd one was for Better Together, but if the panel you have there is correct it makes perfect sense if they are wanting to target the undecided women voters.

That would be quite wonderful. I wonder which of No's many public-school-accented white men it would cobble up to tackle that.

Frankly, if Elaine C Smith turned up with a Yes rosette on STV my mum would probably end up voting, which I don't think she's done in twenty years.

Who is he?

He was the last guy that heckled the Yes panellists in the last (small) debate. With all the stooshie about biased audiences and the questions in the (big) BBC debate the other day this lad has quite the back story, with some complaining he was allowed 5 minutes of angry and biased rebuttal.

It is a WoS link, so you'll need to take some of it with the usual WoS gloss over it, but it's fairly evenly reported here:

Edit: I refer the the small debate and big debates as being separate things, the big debate being the Salmond/Eyebrows showdown.

Seen yesterday that the last big debate will be the 11th. 12,000 spectators.

Yep, a Dr, a university lecturer and a thoroughly classless individual.

Shouting down an MSP, you can just about go with.

Shouting down a fellow audience member, who was clearly uncomfortable is not on.

Apparently, even though he was in the audience as a DK, he runs a Twitter account called Edinburghsaysnaw or some such shite.

I like the guy with the glasses sitting behind with the head down.

"f**k. Ahm on the telly now. Ahm no' wi this zoomer. Honest."

I know the guy behind him and all he has talked about since the debate is the 'angry man' in front him.

Hopefully not.

Time for a Green to be on there. Replace Yousaf with Harvie.

STV had an article up yesterday confirming the lineup as:

Yes: Nicola Sturgeon, Patrick Harvie and Elaine C Smith.

No: Douglas Alexander, Ruth Davidson and Kezia Dugdale.

Don't know about anyone else, but for me, the burning question that needs answered this time is, 'what about the post office?'.
