For 'Well fans that are around my age (mid-late 20s) we've never had a proper rival to play on a regular basis. For the older generations, it was always Airdrie that were the big rivals - never Accies. If we lose tomorrow night, it won't feel any worse than losing to Kilmarnock, St.Mirren or Partick. In all honesty, I don't have any problem with Motherwell (except from the Well Bois) and I don't mind seeing them do well (providing it isn't against us). There like that wee cousin at parties that follows you about and wants to be just like you. Except your not interested. I've rarely seen us win there (is it only the once we've managed it??) but I have seen: 1) Derek Adams have a fight with the Accies Mascot in a pre-season friendly 2) Billy Reid winning the Best Goal Celebration in a Lanarkshire Derby award from his place in the dugout 3) The worst result in our history against Albion Rovers Can't wait for the game This was me as the mascot, got taken away and spoken to by the police because of it ....in all fairness he started it. The persecutory delusions of living in the shadow of the mould firm is further compounded by the notion that as many, if not more Motherwell supporters reside there & travel across the M74 in search of their football fix than watch (granted there is a little purple patch thing going on at the moment) that kid-on total football they've peddled. Probably more due to the fact I'm from Larkhall and Hamilton was where we went at the weekend in the 80s and 90s rather than any great footballing rivalry.
