PrestersKTID
The top four are possibly the most recognizable riffs ever anyway. But Back in black is #1 for me.
Audaces Fortuna Juvat
Thing is, I would change my vote on a regular basis, depending on what mood I'm in, what I've heard lately, and what day it is. All very recognisable and excellent riffs though.

paranoid android
Whole lotta loves ,just of rip off, of Muddy water and the small faces Sweet child of mines ,more a melody than a riff. The 'song' is a rip-off - of Willie Dixon, mainly, and of Steve Marriot - Plant has admitted as much. The riff is original, though, I think. paranoid android
Aye, admitted it after they took legal action,,Zep must be the biggest rip off artists in the history of Music Ken - their worst rip-off was Dazed and Confused, which was nicked from a relatively unknown guy on the local scene - a fairly well structured piece of music. I think the blues rip-offs are a bit more forgiveable - Plant often had to come up with a vocal on the spot, while Page, Jones, and Bonham jammed on a groove. I'm not saying it was right - just that you can see how it might have happened. I got into the blues through Zep. The point I was making is that the Whole Lotta Love riff was Page's, rather than a rip-off.
Dr Koop
Twist the Knife Slowly by Napalm Death. Great riff. We're kind of spoiled for these things, actually.
WaffenThinMint
Go into any guitar shop and try playing "Stairway To Heaven", "Smoke On The Water", "Whole Lotta Rosie" & "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" & you risk being flung out as the staff get sick of hearing them being murdered by cack handed wannabe axemen. That's what the top four ought to have been.
