Arbroath v Montrose

Recommended Posts

Well the biggest derby in Scottish football returns this Saturday and after a good start from both sides it should make it a good game.

I hope and pray that it's not ruined by the wind this week.

We have looked like a pretty solid unit the last 3 games which is great to see after the worries we had in pre season. I think Moore will start with;

Crawford

Whatley

Nicoll

Ali El Zoubhadi

Johnstone

Linn

Stewart

Hunter

McBride

McManus

Buchan

Hope for a good crowd and a good game. Another 3 points would be superb going into the international break.

Bring it on :D

as for Montrose, don't see too many changes from the team yesterday; maybe McCord back from suspension for O'Neill, maybe not.

we have started much better than most expected in the league, but this game will provide a much more realistic picture of where we are at right now. Beating two dreadful opponents has been great, but Arbroath have started very well despite not having a finished team or settled line up, and are a much tougher prospect. I will be astonished if they are not in the top 4 at the end of the season.

Most in the Mo support have enjoyed the start to the league season, and are delighted that things seem to be moving in a positive direction after that awful first game defeat to Peterhead. Not getting carried away though.

Most teams in this league are much of a muchness and so only consistency matters. If there is a winner this weekend then they will have that consistent momentum going into the international break.

Hell i think they should be restricted to the corner between the main stand and the covered terracing behind the Pleasureland goal.

They bring through hardly any fans and they dont deserve to have a roof or wall to protect them from the elements.

Afterall when we go through to Tinks Park we only get a few steps to stand on and are exposed to the wind, rain, snow, hail, lightning bolts from the heavens, meteors etc.

In days of old you also got a bit behind the other goals, Then the police decided we couldn't have that anymore and left you the beach end.

As far as I've seen in the past that's more than enough to hold the thousands that you travel with.

They days were superb when we got a 50/50 split behind that goal. Police are fucking killjoys :(

Its not the amount of space we get given that im concerned about.

Its the complete lack of a roof or wall to help protect the fans from the elements when the weathers crap. Utter disgrace of a ground.

Honestly don't know why there is segregation at Gayfield v Montrose, not having a go at Montrose here but they bring hardly any supporters through for such a short distance and we manage ok when Brechin or Forfar come calling and it's not like bygone days when there really was trouble and seperation was needed. As for being out in the open at Links park in all weathers, hey we can take it ;)

Hope we get a good game anyway.

Spot on, no need for segregation

Been a fair few times there's been trouble but it's usually in Montrose. Never had/seen any bother here but probably best just incase. Seen what happened with Cowden at Gayf.

nah nae segregation, this is no' the "bad old days" of the 70's and 80's, as for Cowdenbeath think there was arseholes on both sides and lets be honest some of them were a old enough to know better, in fact it was pathetic

Absolute shower the Cowden fans. The one that punched the old steward was an absolute c**t. And you say it's not like the bad old days but I mind going 5/6 year ago and there was always bother in Montrose, one full on battle in Montrose high street. Best just to do it incase cause there'll be a few alcohol fuelled fannies kicking about no doubt. The segregation should be as the last time though.

Actually canna wait for this one.

The segregation last time actually gave us the usual whole half in the cup last season. I assume you want us just the corner again as per the league winning game? Personally I remember no segregation and didn't see any bother only the odd streaker. But I have no doubt the way the police are now we won't ever go back to that.

As for the game, it will give us a good test of where we are at this year. I think we will surprise a few teams this season, but this game might be a little to early for us.

Regarding Cowden fans, the only fighting I've seen inside Links Park was between two of their own fans having a fall out. It was better watching than the football.

Would love to go back to these days, but unfortunately can't see any way we can convince the authorities that both sides can't behave themselves - neither set of fans have covered themselves in glory in the past :(
