I don't know about everyone else, but I find myself a bit of a seething jealous mess when I think about top level footballers and the way they live, particularly ones that aren't all that great. Take David Luiz for example, a decent player but not one of the worlds best and he gets a £50 million transfer, probably about £200000 a week, gets to live in a fantastic city which would be even better when you've got unlimited cash, and all he has to do is play football a couple of hours a day.

Yes, I got to agree that...Superstardom is now all to do with wages rather than medals/appearance/being good.

I was utterly shocked ready(reading) about Chelsea youth squad, they're not the only, that pay wages that just blow yer fucking mind, 20,000 per week one of them was on (can't remember his name), wtf is that all about....who clean the boots?

ETA - I can't write

My annoyances relate to English Premiership players - stupid nancy boy haircuts; tattoo sleeves; biggest and most obnoxious looking jewellery going; big f**k off headphones when getting off the team bus that scream 'don't talk to me'; similarly, the head down, no eye contact attitude when getting off the bus; garish looking, attention seeking cars like pink Range Rovers ffs; the inability to complete a sentence without saying "y'know" three hundred times; demanding higher wages despite earning more in a week than the average punter would earn in ten years etc, etc.

Other than that they are sound and I am in no way jealous of their income.

Plenty. But one thing more than any. Is despite being full time on thousands of pounds a week. They have a weak foot! All bloody professional footballers should be equally strong on both feet.

Jesus, chuck in a quick rant about how nobody penalises foul throws anymore and this is straight out the Estragon Sr. phrasebook :P

#Nandos #Cameltrek #Tinman #Buzzing.... This.

Agreed. Anyone that stupid advertising it in public is always grating.

Also, English footballers called things like Jack or Alfie who have those 1940s haircuts, would definitely be call centre junior managers if they couldn't kick a ball, and use the present continuous instead of the simple present for reasons of laddishness: "I'm lahvin' it". That might just be me, mind.

The fact that the hunger for the lifestyle seems to have overtaken the drive to play.

I remember watching a pre-season friendly between a non-league team and a lower division league outfit’s U21s last season. The U21s showed up predictably to be horsed like low-rent caricatures of Premiership players with their coiffed hair, wee diamond stud earrings and gold boots like they’d already made it in the game rather than the truth, which was that they weren’t yet good enough to feature for a lower league Scottish team.

Have to agree with annoyance about one footed players or having some major weakness.

Premiership players should be training for hours a day to perfect everything and be the best they can be.

Going out on the piss is also an insult to fans who pay their wages imo.

The standard of the modern footballer is higher than ever specifically because they are spending more time honing their craft and building fitness.

To a certain extent we're moving away from 'the team that drinks together, wins together' pish of earlier decades.
