Need someone to give a wee report on last nights big upset where City beat Spartans. Didn`t get to the game cos an inconsiderate gaffer changed my Friday shift on Thursday meaning I missed the game. A few heads would turn after this result. Well done the city lads.

City deserved their win.first goal was a 25 yard cracker. Spartans hit the woodwork 4 times and if they had scored it may have been different. A few changes in the city line up from the 1st meeting and despite what other posters have said it is not a one horse race. All games are very competitive and the standard of play is excellent

Took this game in last night, EC Totally dominated midfield! It appeared that Spartans played 4-3-3 which is not their usual set up, EC snapped away brilliantly putting the Spartans defence under loads of pressure. Totally uncharacteristic of any time I've seen them, players looked lost and unable to adapt to the formation.Tactical masterclass handed out by the EC coaches, case of it aint broken so why try to fix it by their counterparts. WELL DONE EC - defo no one horse race as mentioned earlier!

What's the chances eh? Gets Friday of to go thru to East Kilbride to watch what should have been a cracker only to find the games OFF. Hope you think that's funny City. Never mind ,will take full advantage of a free Friday night with some real ale and look forward to Saturday mornings recovery time. Hope you enjoy your games wherever they take you.

Spartans 8 Leith 1 ... The lad George Hunter helped himself to 4 and set a couple up before being subbed along with his strike partner after 65 mins. Leith did equalise with a stunning free kick but Spartans very impressive.

Evening all,

Just found out the City- EK game was pulled because City had a casino night on Friday and would imagine all the coaches and managers from all the teams would be there. Don`t know again if it was a charity doo or if it was just a club funds generator. Obviously it was a dry affair for the first teams squad cos they managed a good result against their Kilby counterparts.

Believe the u20s have a trip to Spartans next week, see if the last result was a fluke or genuine progress.

Time for some Deuchars.

At the end of the first rotation of fixtures (albeit only 1 club has actually played the full complement 7 games!) here's the table taken from the EOS League website.

Surprised at Selkirk, tbh.

From what I recall the U20 Qualifying League gets underway next weekend.

Spartans...... 18pts

Heriot-Watt... 10pts.. (3 games-in-hand)

Edin City...... 9pts.. (2 games-in-hand)

East Kilbride.. 9pts.. (2 games-in-hand)

Leith.......... 7pts.. (1 game-in-hand)

Whitehill...... 6pts.. (1 game-in-hand)

Selkirk........ 1pt... (2 games-in-hand)

Edin Uni....... 1pt... (3 games-in-hand)

Why are you surprised at Selkirk??

I'd imagine it's based around the whole concept of them being able to sign guys that age as full time footballers so you'd expect them to be a little higher in an u20 league.

However, they've struggled as a club since the start of September and a quick look at the league table shows them only four points better off now than they were after 4 games and three of them came against a gala side that have massively disappointed over the same time frame. Was quite excited by the strong start the borders teams made but interestingly only Vale seem to be doing ok and they were the ones originally heavily criticised on here while selkirk and gala got heaps of praise.

I watched the Heriot Watt v Whitehill game yesterday, both teams looked to play the ball on the deck. WW absolutely destroyed HW in the first half 1-0 but something happened in the second half, complacency perhaps, and a mistake by WW in midfield let HW back into the game and they went onto win 2-1. Chatting to a couple of spectators it seems to be a recurring theme in the WW team this season, led in a few games at HT but unable to put the game to bed. My personal opinion is both these teams will cause problems for others in the league in the chase for 2nd place!

"2nd place" up the slope? To whom in your opinion? That said, watched Spartans get back on track emphatically on Friday evening - so strong all over the park. No goals conceded in open play and scoring for fun courtesy of the lad George Hunter (believe he got a run out for the LL team yesterday). Don't know if the Spartans coaches took notice of P&B last week as they reverted back to their more effective 4-4-1-1 formation (IMHO) which resulted in their lads looking much more confident than at Meadowbank last week. Team to beat?? Certainly the team to watch!!

Sharkey, has to be Spartans, I haven't seen them this year but results don't lie. No disrespect to Edinburgh City but I think last week was a blip and they showed that by bouncing right back on Friday. If they don't lose any players I think they will win the lot.

I heard the boy george is training with hearts he would be a massive loss if he was to go

It's an u20 development league and should be a stepping stone to first teams at LL level and hopefully above. The scores should be irrelevant- it'll ultimately mean nothing to the players if they don't progress to a better level of football.

Think it's a trait of the Scottish mentality that we would consider this a 'loss'.
