Rangers v Scotlands Original Champions

Recommended Posts

Well I wasn't really looking forward to this game anyway but after yesterdays performance I'm even less confident.

At risk of sounding like a broken record Kirkpatrick isn't a winger, I'd like to see Taggart start and we have to drop this miserable, negative wingerless formation pronto. Minus 2 players (big ones in Mikey Miller & Paul McGinn) this is the same squad that almost took both Dundee Utd and Aberdeen to extra-time last year. If we play like that we could definitely get something...but at the moment it doesn't look likely at all.

If Bilel Mohsni and Colin Nish both play then at least they'll be something funny to watch as they try to both lose headers and then give the ball away.

Rangers 0-1 Sons (Charles Green 90+3)

You're supposed to use a funny name for Rangers like Sevco or The Newco mate, expect a shitload of PM's coming your way from the angry mob lol.

I don't really know much anything about Dumbarton but Ally will probably do something stupid and help you guys out. We need to play players in their correct position, make use of our wide players and no high baws.

And play macleod in the middle!!!!

Change one name and all the underlined bit could be applied to us!

Last season we scored and conceded loads 65 for 64 against I think it was. This season Muzz has decided to set us up more negatively (presumably for playing yourselfs, Hearts and Hibs) but it has backfired horribly and now we're conceding goals but not scoring.

Surely has to be some sort of reaction to yesterday's shambles. At least the players should be half-way motivated for this match.

I'd like to see Gilhaney given a chance.

Can't say I've paid much attention to Rangers over the last few years but reports on here would suggest they are a pale imitation of the club that once challenged Dumbarton at the peak of Scottish football. Perhaps we can take advantage of their current malaise.

This one is a write off for me.

Rangers should win. It'll likely be another brutal performance but Rangers should win. It'll come down to the better squad being able to take advantage of their chances.

From a Sons point of view, I hope Ian Murray reverts back to the way we played last year. We're a limited team in terms of what we can do - we're never going to pass a team off the park and our best chance of taking anything from this must be to exploit the flanks, harass and hassle Rangers and hope that we can take advantage of a McCulloch/Moshni mistake. That's really where we need the likes of Gils and Megginson to be on their game and to have Prunty up front. The Rangers defenders will bully Colin Nish.

Its not the end of the world if we lose this one but given the way we've started our season, the only other game we should be looking at as a realistic source of points in the next month or so is Livingston at home. We've also got Hearts and Falkirk to play and those will be tough games. It's not beyond possibility that we'll go into the Alloa game with 0 points and that's where a moral-boosting result, even if it's a close run game or a hard fought draw, at Ibrox would be huge.

So long as we don't get hammered and the heads don't go further down, anything from this is a bonus.

Praying mohsni starts, boosts our chances of winning massively, donkey.

As pointed out, hopefully we play to our strengths like last season.

Rangers were garbage at Falkirk, no reason why we need to fear them right now.

Anyone remember a Premier League match between these teams from about 1983, the highlights of which were on Sportscene later that night?

I can't remember the score, but think Rangers won. What I do remember is how empty the ground was. It came during a low ebb for Rangers, before the Souness/Murray nonsense and I think the gate was below 10,000.

Funny to see the sides meeting again in the League.

If this were the Dumbarton team of last season, I would be fully confident of taking a least a point from this. However, the last few games haven't given much cause for any kind of hope that we can take something or, at the very least, put in a competitive performance. What we do still have though, is a very good group of players who, if given the correct instructions and play to their potential, can cause Rangers problems. This Rangers side are certainly nowhere near as good as the Aberdeen outfit we narrowly lost to up at Pittodrie; set-up and perform like we did that day, and we would at the very least push them close. Obviously, if we play like we did in the second-half at Starks and the entire game yesterday, then well...

The players and manager have come out with some strong words after yesterday's result. We will find out on Saturday whether they are willing to back those up on the pitch.

Caution, fellow Sons fans......this Bennett character is dangerous. Please avoid engaging him in conversation. Please refer to his performance in the BRALT for evidence.

Rangers have been playing against Plumbers and Posties. Now they are up against full time teams, and decent part timers as well. The best three part time teams in the country, one might say.

They will struggle this year, unless another sugar daddy arrives with bulging pockets full of cash.

I'd suggest that we go there expecting nothing. If we were able to score first, the big crowd will get impatient and start booing their team. Guaranteed. If that were to happen, we might manage an upset.

If we win, I'd suggest hiding our colours until clear of Glasgow.

Never, ever, refer to me as a friend.

And despite the law of the land, I detest homosexuals. The law cannot change my perception of them.

A tad disrespectful to the teams we have been playing over the last couple of seasons to say the least.

The last thing we need is a sugar daddy handing McCoist more money to throw at over the hill players. A new manager would go a long way to curing all our onfield ills.

I am sure most Dumbarton supporters will expect little from the game but TBH if you get stuck into this Rangers team from the first minute to the last then you will have a chance. I have never known a team to be bullied the way this team allow others to bully them. Again some of the blame has to lie with the management team. There is no togetherness on the park.

As for hiding your colours. Away and don't talk pish. Every team that has taken anything from Ibrox over the last couple of years has been applauded off the park by our support. IF Dumbarton win nobody will blame you for milking it for all its worth.

Enjoy your day out and if you win i ll be the first to congratulate you.
