Bing (2)
I know it could go in the app thread, but it may be missed there by some and is deserving a punt on its own. The app allows you to send and receive texts/calls on wi-fi if you are in a dead spot. Good stuff. http://support.three.co.uk/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBISAPI.DLL?Command=New,Kb=Mobile,Ts=Mobile,T=Article,varset_cat=signal,varset_subcat=3804,Case=obj(13306) (some cheapo phone limitations though........) ETA.........obv if you are on '3' network....... Three inTouch is an app you can use to make calls and send texts when you’re connected over Wi-Fi. You can use it over any internet connection including your home broadband, public Wi-Fi hotspots and mobile wireless devices. Three inTouch is available to people with Android version 4.0 or above or iOS 6 or above on their phones, apart from the HTC Desire 500, HTC One M7, Samsung Mini S3, Sony Xperia J, Z, Z1 and Z2, iPhone 4, Galaxy Mega and Huawei Ascend P2. Homer Thompson
Theres another app that claims to do something similar across any network. It was designed, I think, to work in emergency situations where the mobile masts are out of action or overloaded. I cant remember what its called or how good it is though

Paris Hilltoon
Unfortunately, it's awful. I didn't realise this was the same kind of thing It's worse than that, it looks horrendous as well. Sadly I need to use it some Saturday afternoons. I'm very close to Tannadice, when they're at home, my phone's useless from 2-5.
