Sloop John B
After the defensive shitemare against Livi, we really should bounce back strongly against a League 2 side. According to the internet this our first game at Palmerston against Elgin with the only other encounter was in January 2001 in a 1-0 win in the Scottish Cup at Borough Briggs. I doubt that it will be that low scoring, there should be goals as it seems from results yesterday that neither side can defend . A curious storyline is with Barry Wilson who pulled out of the running the Queens job to stay up north would it have been a success or going by Elgin's fortunes did we dodge a bullet. Our biggest worry is injuries and with Paton's hamstring lasting a whole 108 minutes of competitive football, that's another one to the growing injury list. Higgins is back and hopefully Baird too but the team is pretty thin at an early stage. Hopefully we can still do a professional job and try and restore some of the defences honour by getting a clean sheet. 4-0 Queens
19QOS19
Was that game no a rearranged fixture? I wasn't there, but I'm sure the original fixture was postponed with the QoS fans 20 or so minutes away? Or I'm imagining it?! For me this is a far more important fixture than yesterday, and I hope we approach it as such. It SHOULD be a comfortable QoS victory, but I wouldn't underestimate Elgin, who I expect will be right up for it. Hopefully a couple of goals and a solid defensive display. Skyline Drifter
It was a rearranged fixture. Personally I was about Dunkeld not that far North of Perth when the first one was called off. Bus was probably much further North though. I think we have actually played Elgin twice. We also won a Scottish Cup tie up there in the 30's. They have never played here though. overthetop
Queens clearly should win but after yesterday's shambles I'm taking nothing for granted. Crowd just over a thousand?
Cityfan
Was that game no a rearranged fixture? I wasn't there, but I'm sure the original fixture was postponed with the QoS fans 20 or so minutes away? Or I'm imagining it?! I remember it well as I had been one of the volunteers that shuffled snow off the park for the game to go ahead just for it to be called off. Then the rearranged fixture was called off a ridiculous amount of times while they tried to get it played Mon-Wed-Sat until the ground thawed at the end of January and the game was finally played on the date of the next round's fixtures. We should have forced a replay too, the penalty we missed in that game still sticks in my mind as one of the worst I've ever seen. Anyway, I don't have much hope of us causing an upset on Saturday, should be a comfortable home win.
19QOS19
Queens clearly should win but after yesterday's shambles I'm taking nothing for granted. Crowd just over a thousand? Probably just over the right side of the 1000 mark. I can't see Elgin bringing many down and with the Dumfries show on I can see a few folk giving it a miss. Ironic I am slating the attendances for the Challenge Cup and yet this one may be less Although I doubt Elgin will bring as many as Livi.

DUMFRIES_CREW
Would like to see JM try 3-5-2 for this one with our injury list Dowie Higgins Durnan at the back Kidd and Holt wing backs Kev holding McShane and Fowler further forwards Russell / Baird up front
Mustafa_sheet
I for one will be at Palmerston this Saturday for my first game of the season. It would be a nice bonus if prices were reduced but tbh is £16 really going to break the bank for most punters?!? I honestly don't think so! On the plus side, Queens are going to be one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest ground in the Championship this season. Congratulations to the board on that one especially when many teams are introducing category pricing to make a quick buck!

the_vortex
At £16 . I am one who will be giving it a miss. Most of the other sides in the first round draw have reduced their prices . Very disappointed that Queens haven't for this tie . Last weeks performance , the Dumfries Show & Summer holidays will see another poor home crowd
palmy_cammy
As long as we win I don't particularly care about the crowd. All the statistics suggest that winning this game will be a good thing.
Dougie Mills
I'll be less inclined to grumble about the price tomorrow if we bang in a few and move safely into the next round!
Am Muilleach
It's only £4 more than the stand at Elgin - hardly a problem surely? I'll be there..

Hawk
I just hope we start 4-4-2 and with the injury list I would expect a line up of, Clark Dowie, Durnan, Higgins, Holt Carmichael, McShane,Fowler, Russell, Baird, Reilly. I fully expect Elgin will just sit in and try and keep things tight, but with that line up and I think we have more than enough to open them up and win by 3 clear goals.
