Sim 2 for free, ends 31st July

Recommended Posts

Since EA are no longer producing content or updating patches for Sims 2, they have decided to release the game for free for a limited time until the 31st July.

The complete Sims 2 (including all expansion packs and added content) can be obtained through Orgin, follow instructions here. There is also a guide for increasing the resolution if needed here.

Enjoy.

The sims 2 is still better than the sims 3. The sims 4 is coming out soon, let's hope it's better than the sims 3! Is anyone having problems signing into origin?

I keep getting the I have to be online to sign into origin, even though I am online. I have tried to contact EA through their website but the website isn't working, also tried emailing them with no joy.

Anyone know what particular things to download here? I'm not very clued up on PC gaming and internet patches etc. I'm on Windows 7 so it seems I'm going to need some of it.

For compatibility mode, you just right-click on the game shortcut and select 'Properties' from the context menu. Choose the 'Compatibility' tab and you'll see the option for selecting an older version of Windows to trick the game into thinking it's running under. Seems that some folks have had luck with Windows XP - haven't tried it with Win7 yet, so I can't say.

Origin's a total c**t of a program. It doesn't check your online status, it just asks Windows if you're online and accepts the answer. Unfortunately, Windows 7 is really flaky with detecting whether or not you're online so, if you have a little yellow warning sign on your network connection (which probably says 'local only' when you hover over it), Origin won't let you connect.

If that's your problem, try googling for answers. Loads of people have discovered different fixes that work for them, but some haven't managed yet. My solution has been just not to use Origin, but I guess I'll have to experiment again if I ever want to try this copy of The Sims 2 :(

Oh, and EA's customer services are famously rank rotten, so I'm not surprised that you've had no response.

I know EA's customer services are bad,as I have been playing the sims from the start.

I have tried changing the anti virus settings to allow origin to connect to the internet, downloaded a new copy of origin, cleared all cookies. These where all suggestions on EA's help website, still not working!

If you're into hacks/custom content there are loads of sites like this one. http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/ I would say it's one of the best sites for information, getting help, hacks and EA custom content for the sims 2 & 3 that are free on there but would have to pay for on the EA website.

Go grab yourself some free premium content and get playing.
