Mayos Noun
Most own goals in a tournament is 4 at the moment. From my count, there has been 3 already, with Marcelo (Brazil), Valladares (Honduras) and Kolasinac (Bosnia) all being the unlucky ones so far to concede. Most goals scored in one tournament - Hungary - 27 (1954) - surely not possible. Most goals conceded - South Korea, - 16 - (1954) - Spain are on their way to achieving this. Seriously though, unlikely. Can Klose get the 2 goals required to become the all-time top scorer? Most goals scored in a tournament - 13 - Fontaine. There has never been a hatrick of penalties scored. Most goals scored in a tournament - 171 goals - (1998). Most scorers in a tournament - 111, (1998). Hope it eclipses France 98 but it's a difficult ask. Any other possibilities?

jmothecat
Has it already beaten the record for most matches without a draw? 1930 World Cup didn't have a single draw in the entire competition. Though there were considerably less games, not sure how many exactly it was, but I think it was fewer than 20 overall.

deadasdillinger
Robben's 37km per hour sprint past Ramos was the FASTEST ever recorded by Fifa during a match Ramos, on the other hand, only managed to notch up 30.6km p/h during the chase -almost 7km p/h slower than Robben. Excuse the ridiculous capital letters, blame the Metro
Mayos Noun
I seen that on 101goals. Unbelievable considering Robben's age. Ramos is no slouch, clearly, but that's frightening speed.
HibeeJibee
1930 World Cup didn't have a single draw in the entire competition. Though there were considerably less games, not sure how many exactly it was, but I think it was fewer than 20 overall. 18 matches played at the inaugural WC, and none of them draws. So we're currently 2/3 the way to the current WC equalling that.
Mayos Noun
That is actually impressive. How many goals would have to be scored each game to reach the overall best?
ScottMc77
That is actually impressive. How many goals would have to be scored each game to reach the overall best? 2.69 goals per game required to reach 172. We're currently at 3.36 per game. 7-2
In the Final of the 1966 tournament held in England Geoff Hurst became the first man to score a two goal hat-trick. It should really only be a one goal hat-trick. As some of the crowd had got onto the pitch in the build up to the 4th goal, as famously recorded for posterity by Kenneth Wolstenholme so there can be no doubt about it, the game should have been stopped, the crowd cleared and then the game restarted with a drop ball. The goal should never have stood.
pub car king
It has been a belter of a world cup so far aside from 2 pish games yesterday (saying that dempsey got the goal of the round so far). Compared to the last tournament where a lot of teams just shitfested their way through it.

Excuse the ridiculous capital letters, blame the Metro I blame you for reading the Metro. Not only did Robben at no point record a speed of 37kmph (his maximum was 31.03kmph), Jordi Albi was recorded as running faster than him in that same match at 31.61kmph. th1stleandr0se
1930 World Cup didn't have a single draw in the entire competition. Though there were considerably less games, not sure how many exactly it was, but I think it was fewer than 20 overall. In one of the FIFA movies they've been playing at times, it showed that drawn games went to extra time in the early World Cups although a draw was still possible after 120 minutes but it might help explain that statistic. It's also difficult to compare World Cups when some had far fewer games and some ridiculously lopsided matches.
Blootoon87
Miroslav Klose equals the all time leading World Cup scorer (Ronaldo) on 15. Should get another 1 or 2 this world cup.
