He'll be backup and a coach, so I'd imagine he'll be useful to have about. It's not like he's going to be getting paid a fortune to be your #1 now, is it?

Stevie Woods is our goalkeeper coach but agreed I have no problem with him coming in as a back-up on a low wage although if he was fit a lot of last season maybe we should have had him in then training with us then and possibly playing a couple of games after the league was over, would have maybe been a better gauge of where he is just now rather than getting action in non competitive pre-season games

First one is Craig Gordon mentioned in the Neil Lennon thread.

A bit of a bizarre one this. Mainly since we haven't even appointed our new manager yet.

I would have been happy 4 or 5 years ago with him. but with his injury problems I wouldn't have him now.

Some of us have been talking about this since, oh...March? :whistle

Not only will he be a good backup as I don't rate Zaluska at all, also I think Forster won't be available for our CL qualifiers at Murrayfield so again would rather have an experienced keeper like Gordon between the stick

“@bbckennymac: @BMCRangersRants I was told 3 weeks ago that Craig Gordon was offered £1,000 a week at Rangers - £1,500 at Hearts and £6,000 basic at Celtic”

I think its save to say that a large portion of the Celtic support will complaining at whomever we sign.

Brilliant. Absolutley f''''ing brilliant. Im so excited im going to rush out and renew my season ticket.

i;d be suprised if Celtic targeted many of Deila's old players, he seemed to accept that they weren't really good enough for where Celtic want to be.

The boy Odegaard is very highly rated, but I can't see Celtic being able to beat off the competition they would appear to have if he leaves Norway.

With all due respect, who rates him highly? Who? Alan Shearer? Ian Durrant? Ken Dodd?

Why don't you just search google for any footballer in the world and there will be some one somewhere who rates him/her highly.

Made his debut for the first team at 15 this season, making him the youngest player to play in the Norwrgian top division. Scored a couple of goals this season making him the youngest player to score in the Norwegian top league. Has trained with Bayern Munich and Man Utd in the last few months. Has been named in several football "Next big thing" type articles as one to watch.

Apart from that, there isn't much more to him as it stands.

what does that post hope to achieve? A player previously highly rated signed and didnt do well therefore every other player who is "highly rated" will never achieve anything?

Its the fact that Celtic fans constantly fall for the boards lies. They (the board) constantly try to fob off 3rd rate kak as if they are world beaters. Its the inability of the fans to see through the charade.

Its endless. The final insult is the appointment of Delilah. A complete slap in the face. Its as if they have said " f**k you. We're keeping all the money and giving you this clown, but hey hes won the Norwegian league so he must be good." The Norwegian league? It takes a lot to find a worse, less competitive league in Europe than the Scottish premiership but they managed it. Its shocking.

Maybe they should go and splash millions on players they can't afford and hope they win the champions league.

Using Wiki to disguise your ignorance is a sure fire way to win an argument. Well played.

In the real world, Celtic are a second rate team in a third rate league. They might be a big fish in Scotland but they are a small fish most other places. Appointing Deila seems to match the strategy they have been trying to implement over the last few years with the players they have brought in, in that they are scouting for potential and taking risks. If it pays off, it pays off big. If it doesn't pay off, they'll still be head and shoulders above the domestic competition.

They could of course have appointed Malky Mackay or Roy Keane and flooded the team with over rated, over paid players from the second level of English football. That would definitely have shown ambition.
