Stag Do - Newcastle

DBA

Recommended Posts

It's my mates Stag in May and we've just booked up for a weekend in Newcastle. As it turns out, the best man isn't going to make it so there's a few of us going to take over the role for the weekend and make sure the Stag get a proper Stag Do!

Only ever been to Newcastle for a night out once, and everything after 8pm was a blur! Anyone been to Newcastle for a stag before? Any suggestions on where to go? What to do?

The only plans we've got so far is finding a good place to watch the Froch-Groves fight on the Saturday!

You should have a good weekend. Don't think Friday's are a busy as they used to be but Saturday's are bouncing. The locals are friendly enough and used to outsiders especially Scotland. You won't get any hassle.

Three main areas to choose from. Quayside is worth a look but be warned take plenty cash because you'll be paying at least £4 a pint. Birds down there are stunning.

The area up from the Central Station towards the Bigg Market is quite trendy. The bar Perdu is quite popular but the queue's to get in are horrendous at times. Just go up the side street and enter from the back to save time.

And there is always the rough and ready Bigg Market. Cosy Joe's is worth a look. You always get some drunken Geordie bird flashing her bits at you down the Bigg Market towards the end of the night the more drunker they get.

Just beware of copping off with any birds from Wallsend, Walker or Cowgate. You might not live to tell the tale 8) It's a tad rough in them parts.

:D rough says the man from Ashington, but ye may have a point, mon the Colliers ;)

I suppose it all depends on the age range ?

There are 2 weatherspoons within 100 yards of each other about a 2 minute walk directly opposite the station, one is typical spoons joint, the other lloyds (milecastle) has 3 floors, bottom floor being latest hits and top floor 70s/80s music.these can be popular meeting up points.

Quayside I think has died a death over the last few years owing to the popularity of the "diamond circuit" the area immediately to the RIGHT as you exit central station to the bottom of bigg market where exile mentioned.there is also a vodka bar in this area.

immediately 200 yards your LEFT after exiting the station tends to be gay bars.

Younger types tend to be up towards the gate which is top of bigg market.

Bigg market as stated rough and ready with a flares at the bottom.

Cosy joes as mentioned free to get in and open till 3 would suit older ones and certainly raise an eyebrow or two :D

would imagine aspers casino in the gate to have the fight on as will the sports bars fluid bar gallogate and the big hotel right opposite st.james park (shark club) where the at seat waitresses are stunning :)

Greyhounds during the day is decent.

I went my stag to Newcastle. Tiger Tiger between 5 and 9 had half price drinks.

Spanish restaurant called El Toro is really good.

Random strip joints all over the place.

We booked in to a club to guarantee entry. It was called Floritas. You could book it and get some drinks package. We went for jd, jagermeister, coke and red bull.

There's some good places down the quayside to get a curry. The place we ended up in, there was a load of Geordies having a sing along by about 11pm. A nightmare of a city for me to find my bearings in. We were there two nights and I must have got completely lost about half a dozen times. Paralytic most of the time to be fair but still found it worse than other big cities to navigate.

Thought a would bump this thread,

Only been to Newcastle once, many years ago so hoping someone can help jog my memory

Heading to Newcastle tomorrow for the weekend. Group of guys in 30`s, dinni really want to be in place populated by 18 yr olds, maybe somewhere a wee bit trendy without being pretentious?

Any suggestions? We are staying in The Newgate Hotel which looks to be right next to the Bigg Market which certainly doesnt look trendy but hey ho it was cheap.

Seem to remember a place called idols where the barmaids wore very little, that still on the go?

good weekend, body feels like I have had a kick in now though, no used to few days on the drink.

Stayed about 50 yards down from the Gate and 50 yds up from Bigg Market, basic hotel but we got what we paid for. Ended up in Flares on Saturday night for a bit of 80`s and 90`s cheese lol

Decent prices in the boozers compared to Edinburgh, get three drinks hand over £10 and get change, whats not to like, Jagerbombs for about £1 or £1.50 in the dear places lol happy days

Oh and more kebab and pizza places than you can shake a stick at

Just seen the thread. I visit Newcastle quite often. I went for a pint in the pub next to Walker Metro station before a Benfield game. The bar maid was lecturing some guys at the bar that their behaviour the night before wouldn't be tolerated. Apparently they had been annoying women, swearing, fighting and general drunkeness. This was on Wednesday about tea time. So Tuesday seems quite lively there.

Other than that. you can't go wrong in Newcastle. I recommend just wandering about, there at least 20 pubs within about a hundred yards of the station. Walk up towards the monument and just keep looking left and right, they are on every street.

You can drink in shitholes for under £2 a pint but bit of a waste of your time, similarly the gate is dull

And you could be in anytown, UK.

The quayside is recommended especially in the summer, loads of hipster bars opening now was in bierrex the other day which is cool. Shark bar is decent and there's supposed to be a hooters opening in the gay area oddly enough but shark bars fairly similar and has great views of sjp which is 5 minutes walk from the city centre. Twitter/snapchat lass chelsea ferguson is often on at blue velvet if you're looking to see some (fake) boobies.
