The actor playing Porthos was terrible. Other than that an entertaining enough romp. It does look like Capaldi will steal every scene he is by hamming it up slightly, not quite as much though as Tim Curry in the 90s film version. Agreed he was dreadful, I thought it was a bit strange to cast a black actor in this role to be honest, I'm no expert but I can't imagine there were too many black people in 17th century France and if there were any the chances of them being in the Kings elite guards would be very slim indeed. It 's just that silly tokenism that film and tv makers do now that in all honesty is probably more offensive than not having any black people in it at all.
