Clayhole Blue
Am expecting this to be a stern test for our new team, given the second half of the season that Sons had last time out. Having said that I am expecting us to make a game of it which is not something we could say about our performance in early-season cup ties in recent years. The Moonster
Fairly gutted to be missing this one. Murray has already said he wants us to do well in the cups this year so I would hope we'll have too much for Stranraer on the day but our cup record really isn't anything to shout about. Haven't seen Stranraer's team this year but I assume you guys have replaced Malcolm with someone?
George Parr
Unfortunately: Our record in this cup is one long unmitigated disaster, And: Our record at Stair Park is almost as dire. However: Ryan Borris plays for Stranraer, Therefore: 3-0 away win. Aggy, Graham, Megginson on the score sheet.
Blue-Orchid
Not seen Stranraer pre season so, looking forward to finally seeing us. Not expecting us to get anything from the game, hopefully keep the score line respectable. Good luck to any Dumbarton fans making the mammoth journey... George Parr
Am I the only guy who thinks that Scott Smith is a better left-back than central defender ?? No. I reckon Smith will go the same way as Andy Geggan and end up being used in whatever position we need him to cover in a given match. Whether the position necessarily suits him or not. Jan Vojáček
Am I the only guy who thinks that Scott Smith is a better left-back than central defender ?? I agree, but I put him at CB as we don't have any other options really.
The Moonster
Smith is most certainly a left back. But he filled in when needed last year and did well. We do need a centre half, preferably before this match.
son hawk
Looking forward to this. Been a while since I've been to Stranraer. What notable players have they got apart from Borris?
Dumbartonfooty
Looking forward to this. Been a while since I've been to Stranraer. What notable players have they got apart from Borris? grehen an Corcoran both formally of Alloa and Raith! Corcoran can have a good game but very inconstant and Grehen I see as useless if I'm honest also Scott Robertson who played at thistle last term looked sharp never got much of a chance though. Will be a tough tast but hopefully see a 3-1 sons win

At the back we still have David Mitchell in goals - very decent keeper at this level.

untitled00
I'm getting the early train down for this so should be in Stranraer for 12 noon. Looking forward to the obvious carnage that will ensue Can any Stranraer fans recommend somwhere for a spot of lunch and a few (read many) good pints?
