Not really a surprise.

Another points deduction if found guily? Not like they could afford a fine

The Scottish Premier League is investigating sectarian chanting by Rangers fans during Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Kilmarnock at Ibrox.

Singing was mentioned in the SPL delegate's report and Strathclyde Police will be consulted before a course of action is decided.

The police also reported that one sectarian-related arrest was made during the match.

It was Rangers' first match since entering administration last Tuesday.

The only reason I am not going to be smug about the whole Rangers thing is due to Celtic fans utter joy out of all this.

Makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Same outcome as investigating Celtic, the SPL will ignore.

With the eyes of the footballing world now on the Scottish scene, don't think they can this time. Rangers antics both on and off the field have been headliners even in the English broadsheets that usually only mention "North Britain" as something for their supplements.

I've now lost count of the times this particular club have been investigated/reported/cited/warned/put on probation/fined by UEFA and/or domestic football authorities.

At least their fans never stoned the Kilmarnock team bus, threw a down-and-out in a fountain, savagely attacked a policeman or smashed up a city centre.

All in all then, they should be commended for their restraint under such trying circumstances, rather than be investigated....again.

Eyes of the world?

Not really, yes papers in a few countries will have mentioned Rangers predicament but its hardly going to capture the worlds attention.

Rangers aren't even that important to the SPL never mind the world of football.

A massive fine that liquidises them would be a just punishment.

Didn't the SPL punish neither Hearts nor Celtic over events at Tynecastle last season?

As long as the club can show that it's done everything in its power - stewarding, initiatives etc. - to prevent this type of thing there will be NO punishment.

Well there fucked then eh as they could have easily thrown out the offending bigots but chose to do NOTHING.. A 3 point deduction coming Ibrox way ( that is of course if Rangers are still playing at Ibrox this time next week)

Just to mention, sellick are under investigation as well, I believe for coin throwing.. Great..

I recall years ago the SPL were getting tough on sectarianism and drew up a list of punishments. I'm sure it started with a warning, then a fine and then a points deduction.

Then again i maybe dreamt it.

Super Rangers and the F word in the black were sung. We know not to sing those songs, it's stupid and just going to get us into trouble.

I apologise to all those that were offended by them.

I am all for fighting sectarianism and getting it removed from the stands around the grounds in Scotland but it has to be done evenhandedly and all clubs whose fans behave in this way punished. The Rangers support are incredibly naive if they thought the singing of these songs was going to be ignored on Saturday. I am actually surprised it has taken this long for the announcement.

A couple of points...The offensive line in TBB was not sung. a couple of idiots tried to start TBB in the Copland Rear and were quickly shouted down. 'Who's the ****** in the black' was sung once and 'Super Rangers' was sung a couple of times...The offensive line being 'We hate Celtic , ****** b*****ds' . I have never understood why that song was left alone when TBB and TFS were banned. Other songs such as The Sash,Follow Follow and Simply The Best were all sung but without the add ons.

As i said i have absolutely no problem with the enquiry and i am sure it will be a rap across the knuckles/ Warning due to the massive strides Rangers have taken over the last few years. Strides that have been recognised by UEFA and see us now used as an example to others.

Now the SFA/SPL have had enquiries about the Celtic and Rangers support and are actively looking to stamp out religious intolerance in Scottish football grounds they will maybe take action against clubs / Supporters who sing songs such as 'Go home ya ****'..'No **** in Scotland' etc etc. I am not interested in people saying 'Aye but that's not sectarian' I hear the same pish on Follow Follow about the term ******.
4 MEN HAD A DREAM. TO START A FOOTBALL TEAM,
THEY HAD NO MONEY,NO KITS NOT EVEN A BALL.
THEY STILL CARRIED ON, THE RANGERS WERE BORN,

AFTER 54 TITLES, WE'RE STILL GOING STRONG.

A Celtic supporter taking the moral high ground over sectarian chanting.

I like the sentiment of the thread and Rangers should be punished though.

I heard this mentioned on the radio, but they didn't say it was Celtic who are being investigated for coin throwing. It was reported they are investigating coin throwing incidents at Tynecastle. No mentions of a club.

I might have taken it wrong, but to me that could be either Celtic fans, Hearts fans, or both.

Not to get involved in the inevitable and impending Hearts/Celtic bitch slap, but I'm sure they specifically said it was Celtic.
